Disgusting this imo. There’s no reason that fixture and the following round couldn’t have been rescheduled given the circumstances, that saw the club being told by PHE that they couldn’t play, and not that they weren’t prepared to put a side out. I hope Spurs and the authorities at least make good the £150k in lost income that Orient are now looking at as a result of this decision. I suspect your view would have been somewhat different had this been the RS btw.
This. It certainly won't happen, but the Premier League teams should be offering a helping hand wherever they can.
So how many positive tests does a team need to have a game called off? And how many games called off before they just shut competitions down?
Apart from Newport County arent the rest of the teams just Premier League outfits? Imo premier league teams should be able to cope, lower league teams should be dropped if they have 4-6 out. Regarding the EFL teams being dropped, they should be compensated Don't want the Prem teams pulling a Watford and pretending the entire squad has been killed off.
So if you're running your business in a non-covid-secure way you expect other responsible businesses to cover your loss of revenue from being shut down to protect people? I suspect your view would have been somewhat different had Rodriguez been playing them and got infected forcing him to miss PL fixtures.
Only I didn’t say the game should have been played on Tuesday, it was called off for the right reasons. I’m saying it was bollocks to award the tie to Spurs, so have another go.
So far Spurs fans have dipped into their pockets and bought Orient shirts. Their owner said they made 20k on the morning following the cancellation...which is 4 times more than usual and he thanked the Spurs fans for it. reckon the club will also be giving them some money. It’s shouldn’t be a reflection on Spurs that this decision was made.
Its not Spurs fault. Football league/FA to blame. How many more times will this happen over the next months though?
It depends on whether Spurs were fully prepared to play a rescheduled tie or not tbh mate. If they were, then they’re you’re right.
Yep, I called it well. Mind you, conceding two goals against a side that will struggle in the Paint Trophy does not bode well for when ‘Pool come up against the might of Kane, Bale and Sonny.
On the Spurs bye it rather sends the signal if you are a lower division club & have a payday coming up don't test . tbh though i can't see where Spurs would fit another fixture in unless they had been knocked out of EL last night .
Spurs would have been playing Tuesday/ Thursday this week though had the game gone ahead as scheduled, so the ‘no room’ argument just doesn’t wash. This was either the League deciding that they had to uphold the rule irrespective of circumstances or there wasn’t the will to play the fixture from Spurs, which meant there could be no flexibility on that rule.
