It’s there glowing business accolade that’s got us in the league and position we’re in. If they weren’t ****houses we could still possibly be a premier league team and almost certainly a top championship team.

The problem with assembling a Championship standard squad to compete in League 1 is financial - Championship player wages are probably 5-10 times League 1 wages, which renders the economics impossible. And that has, as Urika comments, been exacerbated by Covid.

I’m pretty happy with the business done - decent players signed, the ones who can be assets at L1 level retained, youngsters being introduced rapidly, dead wood ditched. I’m optimistic. And I think McCann is doing a decent job now, which is pleasing because he looked a busted flush in June.

Another ex Hull City lad maybe plying his trade in the prem.

Crystal Palace are weighing up a move for ex-Hull City defender Max Clark, as per a report by the Daily Mail.

Also, many clubs that go up have momentum that carries into the next season. Provided we go up and don’t have a fire sale next summer, I see no reason why we can’t be competitive in the Championship.

Possibly, as I can see clubs coming down from the EPL being careful with their money in the current climate (Covid doesn't look like it's going to give up anytime soon).

I just pray we have or can get a really good feeling in the club. That's what served us so well in 'The Decade'.

The Allams obviously aren't going to help nurture that, but maybe it can come from inside the dressing room.

I agree with And the answer for the Allams is staring them in the face - they need to appoint a competent chief executive and remove themselves entirely from the limelight. All the time selling up is rendered impractical by the new post-corona economics of football, that’s their best - perhaps only - bet for allowing deep wounds to heal.

That would entail a mighty big climb down for Ehab, I accept that reality. And it will itself cost money on a salary. But short of selling up, it’s the only solution.

Didn't they announce that they would be doing just that a while back?

It will be interesting seeing what the long term future is for Championship clubs? They rejected the salary cap proposal, with many clubs spending beyond their means, no fans attending matches can’t be sustainable for quite a few of them.

That's a really good idea, but I suppose everything any new man wanted to do, would have to get past the Allams first, so maybe it wouldn't make much of a difference.

I also expect a chief executive would become a fall guy and many people wouldn't accept that any unpopular decisions may have come from the top.

That would suit the Allams very well, so I'm surprised they haven't done just that.

They have never read "The Prince" by Niccolo Machiavelli, or any other books on strategy.

I think you got it half right GB.... we have collated a squad which at first glance could get us out of this division.... BUT,.... we still have a manager and assistant who I firmly believe cannot...

The players might be good enough but I'm not sure McCann can get the best out of them.

Snodgrass has just been on RH talking about his departure, he was very up front. He said we started the season with a dozen players, several of the remaining players were being linked with moves away, his contract was running down and there was no sign he was being offered a new one and he needed to think of his future.
