So you go from “randomly dropped” to “he’s not great”.

completely hypocritical post! You can’t say he’s randomly dropped then say he’s rubbish! He’s dropped because he was rubbish!

I said not great, that's completely different to rubbish. By not great I mean I'm not expecting him to come in and tear the league up. I know he's limited in many ways. But I also know that he has the advantage of offering something different, mainly a bit of pace and directness, a willingness to go at people. It's something I think we lack and therefore, even though he's limited (most of our squad are, quite frankly), I think there's a place for him on the bench. If we're struggling, if we're creating nothing and if Graham isn't doing well, I'm not sure bringing Wyke on would change much. Kimpioka on the other hand, despite not being great, might give an opponent something else to think about.

I said randomly dropped because Parkinson started giving him a few chances and, again, he offered something different whilst not being great. He seemed a decent enough option to have on the bench. He then managed to grab a goal which will done wonders for his confidence. Given that, you'd expect to see him stay around the first team picture so it was very random to then suddenly, after that goal, see him dropped from the bench never to be seen again. So it's not hypocritical at all.

According to Parky, Lee Burge's backup is a 5% improvement over the guy Lee Burge used to backup!

Well “not great” at league 1 level Is rubbish in my book!! I watched him and he looked pretty poor to me against anything above u21 teams. And he looked average at best against them. Still seems like your first paragraph says you don’t know why he’s dropped them your second says he’s not very good!!

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I want the lad to succeed if he stays and will get behind him if I'm ever at a game he plays in (or ever at a game again!!) and l know he has pace (and completely agree that's something we desperatelky need in the setup somewhere)

I'm sure that when the games start coming thick and fast we'll see the likes of Kimpi given a chance. I was disappointed with Parky's teams initially but I don't blame him for picking his strongest team twice with a weeks break in between.

Personally don't rate the lad that highly and this carry on with the contract doesn't sit well, just sounds like nobody else wanted him.

    Hopefully I'm proved wrong.

Jack Diamond adds pace, Dan Neil adds pace, they both also add a bit of quality, that I have yet to see from Benji Kimpioka, I do hope I have missed something for the sake of SAFC. But I would not like to see him automatically promoted above the former, on any other basis than performance.

He isnt brilliant but surely he deserves a run of games to show whether he is up to it or not? How many chances have Grigg, Wyke n Graham had. I dont think he will get a run of games but I think it is a bit harsh judging him on 10 mins here and there coming on as sub.

Quite, he cannot be any worse and he likes to run with the ball... something different.
I suspect he may not prove that good, but give him a chance the others are crap!

As well as pace Kimpioka has also got athleticism. I've seen him get his head onto crosses that our other strikers wouldn't.

The amount of times I hear fans say this about players and get proven wrong time and time and time again <laugh>

Jones, can't be any worse than Bardsley
Oviedo, can't be any worse than Van Aanholt
Camp, can't be any worse than Steel..........etc etc etc

I hope he can. I hope he’s knuckled down in training and he can become an indispensable part of the team.

Sunderland AFC are delighted to announce that Benji Kimpioka has signed a new contract with the club.
The striker has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at the Stadium of Light, with the option of a further year.
Kimpioka joined the club aged 16 from Swedish side IK Sirius and has since gone onto make eight Sky Bet League One appearances for the club, scoring once in that time against Coventry City back in November 2019.
The 20-year-old has also been capped numerous times by Sweden at youth level, making 10 appearances for the Under-19s before earning seven caps for the Under-21s.
Manager Phil Parkinson said: “We’re very pleased that Benji’s contract situation has been resolved. Now, it’s up to him to work hard and push his way into the first-team picture.”
