The club generally has a record of looking at these things before commenting on them. Dyche wouldn't have let Stephen McGinn spout that out to the press box unless he was confident there was something in it.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9283181._The_strangest_decision_I_ve_seen_in_a_long_time_/ Sounds like we let the penalty decision affect our performance a bit.
If we had been 2-3 up before your penalty the game could have been entirely different. We will never know. You might have come back stronger and we might have shipped the 4 goals, but we might have been the stronger and got another or even just shut you out. We will never know. Hence why i have said i will wait to see the replays before i pass my judgement, i am just commenting on what others have said before me. It must be hard on the guys, knowing we are unlikely to get decisions our way, and then when we get absurd decisions against us it must be like a blow to the balls!!
Spoke to a Watford fan afterwards who was AT the game.....he described your Watford teams performance as humiliating, who never turned up.....maybe a tad harsh but you were totally outclassed for the vast majority of the match
I think you'll be hard pushed to find a fan who doesn't think that their team gets an unfair share of the bad decisions.
I suppose it's a question of who you believe - Hornette was AT the match too and tells a different story. Regardless, the scoreline is the scoreline however harsh or accurate it may be - so time to stop griping/sniping and move on. Good luck for the rest of the season - I reckon we'll both need it.
the fist penalty definitely wasn't a penalty, but overall saints deserved the win. One thing of note in the first half was that outstanding touch by lallana, if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. also thought we played some terrific football in the second half
I saw the touch your talking about....the 2 watford defenders around him turned to follow the ball down the line...they quickly turned back when they realised Lallana had the ball glued to his foot....sublime
100% wasn't a penalty for Lamberts first, look at the pic it clearly shows Lamberts hand in the air but I can see why the Ref thought it was a Watford player. Still Saints 2nd half performance was brilliant and we could have quiet easily scored a few more!! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Gallery/0,,10280~2469619,00.html
I can see why the ref was confused. Another reason why video decisions are needed!! That moment changed the game!! Does no one object if i post the pic here??
Hey, I agree I thought the first pen was definitely a bit suspect, and thought you could have had one first half, two saves from KD and the 2nd Penalty just broke your spirit, as up to then you were equal except in the finishing. It is a shame really, you arrived on a day when we had a point to prove, I am sure things will improve for you, good luck.
By the way "homer" referees at St Marys are rarer than hens teeth or rocking horse do do's! This was probably the nearest we will get.
Sorry, Hornette (and i'm not the real Garry by the way - he's gdb something or other) but Southampton were vastly superior. It wasn't a penalty, and that may have changed the game, but I doubt it. My thoughts on the game (although I missed the first 10 minutes because of traffic and a farcically incompetent Saint Mary's ticket office) 1 - why switch LD to left back, and waste Aidy at RB (although Mirfin was solid, probably one of our best players) when he has either Tom James , or if it's too deep an end to throw him in, Forsyth to put in at LB? Bad call Dyche. 2 - what an uninspiring bench - Jenkis Deeney Iwelumo and Bennett. Not a single game influencer, let alone changer. Where was Murray? Where is Buaben? Bad call Dyche. 3 - we were always last to the second ball, as if we were scared - a bit like that thumping we got a Chelsea in the cup a year or two back. Maybe Dyche describing us as underdogs every chance he gets doesn't help, and gives the players a get out clause. 4 - passing was woeful. That is all. 5 -Marvin was a disgrace today - totally disinterested. Drop him. 6 -Gilmartin proved why dropping Loach was a mistake - I don't suppose he'll play again for a while (Rene that is). 7 - Big Chris. Last chance. Not taken. Bye. 8 - Deeney Yes, hard working and all that, but he's not going to cut it in this division I'm afraid. 9 - Tiny and Eustace - shadows of last season's players. Pluses today.....er, Garner worked his socks off, Mirfin was a rock. Oh, and the travelling 'Orns, fair play, great performance (pity it didn't inspire similar efforts from those on the pitch).
TBH The WFC forums seems to be pretty negative about the performance and usually they aren't too fussed. A lack of effort has been claimed which isn't good. Ofcourse on the WO site there are already 30 odd posts as we lost which is the norm.
I don't know if it was lack of effort or just a lack of quality. Even on Tuesday, I did not let two goals and a win gloss over the fact that for 70 minutes we were poor and lacking ideas.
