Somerset win by 7 wickets with 2 overs to spare. We needed that boost to the RR, it’s going to be very tight on Sunday. A great partnership between Tom Abell and budding superstar Tom Lammonby, who hit 43 off 23 including a few monstrous sixes. Every 4 tonight meant £25 to Portishead RNLI, and every 6 £50, from the sponsors. With other stuff that meant £1500 from Trade Nation, well done them.
I did suggest at the start of the competition that we might want to try Organ as a second spinner. Obviously it's been far too late for some time now. but hey ho.
Literally an over of yorkers. What a way to finish your final four balls in a Hampshire shirt. The final over of our horrendous t20 competition is by some distance our best over.
No word yet. Even in normal times we probably wouldn't announce our overseas players until November at the earliest. But given that no-one knows what next season will look like, I imagine it'll much later this time. I always think that Pakistani's are often a good option to consider (subject to the international schedule). Partly because so many of them are good at white ball cricket. Partly because they don't play IPL, and therefore aren't as burdened fixture-wise. (Eg look at Maxwell when we had him the second time - he joined us after a long IPL campaign, and was shattered.)
Amazing from Graeme White to smash 37* from 12 balls, batting at no.9, to somehow win the game for Northants and send them through to the QFs at the expense of their opponents.
And even then, Northants still needed Gloucs to beat Somerset off the last ball. Miracle qualification. Essex had something similar last season...and won it.
Just hope that the weather allows enough time for a positive result, it would be a shame if the season's finale is a damp squib.
What happens if it's a draw? I'm assuming the team with the most bonus points will win and if that's level then the amount of points won in the group stage?
Probably what you said because a Super Over would be a bit silly for a 4 day match. Oh and come on Zummerzet as I have a bit scrumpy in my blood thanks to my Gramps...
