Hello Saints. Thought I’d pop over due to the Tom Davies rumour. As a young bloke Tom is a really good egg, does loads with EiTC and aside from his dress sense isn’t your archetypal young wealthy footballer. As a player I’m afraid he just isn’t quite good enough for a decent level PL side imo, he’s not awful, but just not quite good enough to be a first choice CM in this league. Maybe a move will really help him out and he can flourish elsewhere. He’d become a target for the boo boys at Goodison. I don’t see the point in a loan from our perspective unless it comes with an obligation to buy. As we’ve got plenty of other high earners that we need to ship out before Tom imo.
Well judging by our fanbase youth players tend to be overrated rather than under. I'll judge him on what he does here (if he signs) but I've never seen anything from him that makes me think he's what we need to transform our midfield away from bang average.
We have got a pretty bang average squad TBF which Ralph has done his best with, it's at least another body in there with low risk.
I think it'd be a perfectly good signing as just another body. Suspecting it's our main midfield signing is the issue imo.

Think the Bertrand comparison is really off, I was really looking forward to him. He played in the CL and looked fantastic at that level. Tom Davies is a good player as a backup, but if he's our only signing, I don't think its good enough

Leicester, is more off their success. They sold Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater soon after winning the title, while recently Maguire and Chirlwell - thats a lot of cash - must be close to what they've bought in?
Yeah fair point. But they are selling players, and replacing them seemly like for like. We seem to be rumidging through the Walmart VHS bargain bin!!!!

Even with the concerns over our purchases (or lack of) we appear to have been very successful in clearing out our very high wage no hopers if rumours are to be believed.....desperately looking for positives!
