It would have been a pen apparently - but the linesman ruled him offside - so that's why the re-start was a free kick to us.
According to BBC radio suicide, cardiff player offside. I didn't see a flag off the linesman though. I am southside too though so may have missed it. Any ideas on the goalkeeper sub?
It was an appalling dive and he should have been booked, regardless of being on or offside, he was cheating.
Basso was limping slightly a few moments before he went off, thought he was wasting some time when he did it though as he looked fine after kicking the ball up field. Maybe he had cramp again.
Didn't seem revered from where I was stood. Most disagreed with it. Seriously though, must've been for the offside.
Just nice to see a penalty decision reversed in our favour. That's third one I've seen in live football, and the other two were against us... (one was Villa in 2008, was the other Reading last year?)
Nevermind theirs, where was ours? Their number 5 grabbed waghorn by the throat and dragged him to the floor when he was closing their keeper, should have been straight red and free kick. The ref saw it as he signalled play on and had a talk to him whenthe ball went out. This was made more bitter as instantly they whacked the ball up the pitch and scored. Then not 5 minutes later, fryatt turns to be clear on goal, their number 5 again grabbed him by the throat and threw him to the floor, ref was right in front of it, should have been straight red and penalty. Awful ref, 2 clear red card fouls and not one even considered as a foul, pathetic.
agreed, im in the south stand and even i could see what a blatant dive it was, once it had been reversed, the ref should have done the decent thing and subbed himself for the 4th official.
Midlands, I saw this very clearly too, the dirty bastard practically strangled Waghorn but it happened well outside the penalty box.
I know the waghorn one was out the box notice I said free kick but fryatt was just inside the box when the same thing happened again.
We were talking about this after the game. If it's not a foul then the referee has no business going and talking to the defender about it. It's not like a mistimed tackle where he can go and tell him to calm down a bit, those incidents were either fouls or not with no grey area. The referee actually had a very good first half, don't know what happened to him in the 2nd half. Thought he was taking the piss when he started telling us to stop wasting time on goal kicks when Basso hadn't even had chance to get the ball yet, most comically when a Cardiff player went for the ball as soon as it was given so Basso waited and was told he was taking too long. Surely it was quicker for him to wait for the Cardiff player to kick it to him than for him to go and get it himself?
