My two cents is I agree with Aldo. If you've ever actually played the game which I don't think Mindy has then you know what an advantage a home pitch is. You learn every single little thing about it. Even in Premier league grounds there will be parts of the pitch that bounce different, that holds water different, that holds the ball up different. You learn corner routines to the exact measurements of your pitch. Even a meter or two off means a run may be a second late or a foot over hit. He joked about wind but at stadiums like Pittodire with open corners and a North Sea wind you learn how it comes into the stadium and affects different areas. If you know the distance from your box to the outer line by heart then you don't need to look up as much, you don't need to constantly be checking where you are on the pitch as you instinctively know as it's your pitch. Little things like this as don't seem much but in professional football when the differentials are so small at the top it's these little things t give you a huge advance at home, even without fans. The Etihad for example has their grass cut to exactly 9mm (or something similarly accurate) and cut different directions on each half (all on Pep's orders) so no matter what way they are shooting they know the grass perfectly and have learnt on it. It's a huge advantage to know every inch of your pitch

 

There's a reason why clubs like Burnley let their grass grow when Man City are due. It's the home advantage that allows them to do that and hinders City's play, even slightly. Burnley spent the week before training on what type of pitch they know they will have while City can't. Same for his watered/dry etc they make a pitch for different teams coming. All this is huge for the home team.

No one has said players struggle to adapt just that it's an advantage to already know all about the pitch rather than learning when you're on it for 180mins a season.

I haven't read the posts but is someone arguing that home advantage isn't a thing? That players who play half their games on a particular pitch don't know said pitch better than a team who plays there just once or twice a season?
