That's the very last thing he'd want to happen as it loses him millions and gives his business reputation a massive hit. Selling at a bit of a loss in the midst of covid at least let's him walk away with that intact. He can still claim he sorted the finances, didn't quite get promotion and sold us on to folk who had more cash who could move us on further. Jobs a good un.
Interest free loans doesn't garuantee repayment, it's the same risk as any other loan. So he's still funding the club. The same as Donald, wether he ends up with nothing or millions, he's still funded us.
Agree, but how much has he funded us compared to the cost cutting. We've ended up with a worse squad season in season out for the past decade, Donald hasn't rectified this.
It depends on whether you believe Donald is capable of telling the truth. Has £20 million been written off, has he borrowed/repaid £9 million or was it a down payment, how much has Methven put in, etc, etc, etc. We're losing big money, every month, and Donald doesn't have big money. I believe he wants to wash his hands of the club.
Wrong. He'll get the loan back when he either sells the club, as it will be in the price, or decides that the club is paying some of his cash back. He isn't having to chuck cash at it to fund it as you claim, it makes money as a successful business, as much as it pains me to say it. Wrong again. He's put loans in. That's not funding, at least the way you claimed. Abramovich funded Chelsea, chucked millions in then converted the debt to shares. That's the sort of funding that if an owner cuts off the business ends up going under.
He'll have one and he'll still be doing business long after his ties with us are over. He won't want a failed football club on his CV if you like, just doesn't look good.
Covid has given him the perfect 'out' tbh. Having had a huge initial budget, a good squad and a massive loan he surely want a hat trick of failures to look back on.
Massively so. Come close to success first season and second season was finished early so can get his excuses in for those two. I'm fairly certain what he never considered was the possibility of going into a third season still owning us with us still being in League 1, allied with a massive reduction in income. As he himself said, he never had the money to fund us over the long term and I really do think the finances will be biting him hard by now.
The last few years of Short and Donald has got us in to this mess with people with very little knowledge of how football clubs should be run , I know we are at a low ebb at this time but in a strange way since the three musketeers have gone AWOL we seem to be starting to find people that care about the club and want the best for us at a difficult time . David Jones and Rodwell appear to have supported Phil Parkinson with a small budget and assembled a squad better than most if not all of the EFL1 teams and squads . We still need to get this takeover done and dusted to get the club out of the mess we find ourselves in and progress to where the fans deserve the club to be . Sooner the Better!!!
As I said, loans are never garuanteed to be re payed, especially in football. Did Ellis short get his money back that he loaned to SAFC?
It’s secured against the ground, that’s pretty much guaranteed, he’s been done mate ellis must have lost a fortune on us but will have learned valuable lessons, can you imagine being able to spend £10k per month for somebody to come and rotate the plastic plants man
