When everyone was in uproar about the missing millions I was of view that a 9 million loan and SD still owing 11m to club looked like a £20m championship war chest to me and I think he did therefore have a plan for the championship.

However, since then Covid has happened and if that war chest did exist, it's getting rapidly depleted.

I'm personally not worried in the slightest about SD wanting to stay. As far as I'm concerned I think the plan will be to try and get contracts exchanged before the transfer window shuts.

He said in very early interviews that he didn’t have the funds to get the club back in the Premier League. But his plan was to stabilise things, get them promoted and then seek other investors. I don’t think he said he planned to flip the club but he was pretty clear he didn’t have the funds to get promotion from the Championship.

No, in fairness he was always categorical that he could get us out of league one but would need investment after that. No matter what anyone thinks, a load of rubbish has been spouted about SD so try not to believe it all. Look at the early interviews.

Investment is different to flipping the club for quick profit though. He said he wanted to be at the club long term and would need investment but keep the majority of shares. Talk of running the so called 'Dortmund model' also hinted at doing things self sustaining by selling players developed through youths or bought cheap. They talked a good talk at the start but it was all smoke and mirrors and if promotion happened first season and he could have sold for a profit, no one would have really noticed as much and he would have been lauded for saving the club imo.

I may be the only one but I don't think he ever really wanted to 'flip' the club. He may well have done that if offered enough, but i think he was in love with the idea of being a premier league chairman.
Let's face it we were the only chance he'd ever get at this.
Sadly he's an idiot (in football club owner terms)

I think you have a point mate.

I've always believed he would've walked out of Wembley and been unable to let go.

The fact he borrowed all that money, then pretended he didn't need it, says everything.

FPP wanted the club but he just couldn't bring himself to go back to anonymity flogging car insurance.

I think very similar, I reckon he and salmon pants loved the limelight, cavorting with the fans, lording it up, then **** decisions came about and lies and it all fell apart, they underestimated the fans big time and on too many occasions, the trust is gone and so they have to be

He tried to flip the club. He probably wanted a share so he could experience the riches but he was trying to flip the club at Wembley

He tried to flip the club to Campbell in the first summer and even installed him in an office at the AOL. Then changed his story to only leaving the following Christmas as the fans wanted him out. Why he was allowed to sprout this crap without being picked up by the so called journalists is beyond me.

You could be bang on right,
I'm convinced he's going to sell and as I say will await any revelations afterwards.
He did state he needed investment and/or I'm sure to sell to new owners for the club to progress.

I may be wrong as it's dragged on for 12 months with much being said and plenty of alcohol on my part in-between.

    ;) :D

He wasn't flipping club to Campbell. He was going to stay on as a shareholder and be involved in running of club.

    Quote from Campbell

"Stewart Donald was going to stay as a shareholder as part of our deal.

“I wanted Stewart to stay. I’ve got a great relationship with Stewart and we get on really, really well.

He also said SD staying on had caused a few issues with his investment team.
