Two things epitomised by Gooch's goal.

    Over to you Parky.

The thing is we can have great players, but Parky is more likely to sign Hale and Pace.

Perhaps Gooch has twigged it is better to stay on his feet, rather than fall over asking for a free kick?

    Great goal

Gooch has quality as the goal shows.

I think he's good enough to play in a Championship team if he was coached properly and played in the right position.

Yep... probably not winger though, as a second striker I reckon

I don't like him as a winger either.

He needs to be around the edge of the box for me, has a good clean shot on him.

He was joint top scorer in the league along with Maguire last season and has looked like our best attacking player in the short amount of time he has had so far this season.

I would start him for O'Brien next week alongside Maguire playing just behind Graham, mind you I thought Wyke looked excellent when he came on yesterday for Graham.

Start him instead of O’Brien and we will have exactly the same line up as last season minus the keeper. Couldn’t make it up <doh>

I am not certain cos I can only go on what various player ratings have indicated, not having watched games in person, but do we have a poor keeper again?

Yes we have a dodgy keeper. We knew this after the 5-4 defeat by Coventry where he made 2 or 3 errors leading to goals for us yet we chose to sign him anyway.

On a side note we signed him an Willis from Coventry last summer then they went up with the best defensive record last season. While I think Willis has been a solid signing it's the kind of stat that sums up our last 4 or 5 seasons.

He fills me with zero confidence with crosses etc, seems to flap at them. Can’t really comment on his shot stopping ability as I can’t remember him being tested, which is credit to the lads in front of him tbh. We are definitely weaker in that department though.

A work colleague supports Coventry, and he's always said Burge was awful. He couldn't believe someone had chosen to sign him.

Everytime Burge has a gaffe, Willis failed to clear. In the opener, all Willis had to do was head the ball over the back line, and you can see in the highlight that was his intention from the way he turned his head but instead, he only managed to float the ball directly into the path of their onrushing #9.

Yesterday, on that long floated ball into the box, Burge wanted to come and get it, but Willis was beaten so badly that he basically set a pick for Oxford preventing Burge from going after the cross.

Our defence struggle with crosses, often looking like they are marking each other. I worry every time we concede a corner, yet somehow we seem to get away with it. Long may it continue.

Now that you mention it -- that's exactly what we look like on crosses!

I live in Coventry now, so know quite a few fans. Most of them echo this. Only one said he'd improved as he got older, and was decent in the end.

Mind you, if you were shot of him that's the kind of thing you'd say! :)
