Young kid? George Best was younger than KLP when he played 59 games as Man Utd won the League in 1965. He was only about 3 months older than what KLP is when he played in this game at Benfica. Obviously not everyone is a George Best but as with him and Trevor Francis and others if you are good enough you are old enough.
Who though? Literally nobody realistic on the market unless you're taking a punt on a pup or an unknown.
Agree with the comments about our centre backs today and would add they were mainly responsible for the slowness of our play when in possession. Jones and McLaughlin at Leeds were much sharper and more accomplished in linking play to our midfield. Jones looks our best centre back to me.
League One top scorer last season was Paddy Madden, he cost £150k, we’re a big fish in this pond, there’s obviously options.
The top goalscorer in that division was a lad called Ronivaldo, who played in the same team. Probably wouldn't get a work permit for him, but his goalscoring record is quite good.
Like? There were options but most realistic ones have gone elsewhere, whereas, there are tonnes of wingers on the market
The training, treatment, kit and pitches are a lot better now as well. I don't consider someone who will be 20 shortly as being a young kid in need of mollycoddling.
Peterborough signed Mo Eisa from Bristol City ahead of last season, he’d only even played six games for them, he finished second top scorer in the league, scoring a third of their goals. Would have expected me to know who he was?
If we were feeling particularly ambitious in this league, we should go for Siriki Dembele at Peterborough.
We don't know what sort of market we are looking at, so speculating about which strikers are available and which ones aren't is pointless. Nobody saw Thomas Mayer coming in, I doubt anybody had heard of the kid before last week. We've obviously widened the scope of our scouting, otherwise a winger from the Austrian second division wouldn't have been spotted, so that opens up the possibilities to quite a large selection. We haven't even utilised the loan market yet, so we've got that to use if we need extra bodies because of injuries. The window doesn't close for just under a month, I wouldn't sweat it.
Celtic had a bid turned down for him in January of around £1.5m (probably recommended by his little brother), we aren't going to chuck that sort of money at a player.
So is Gary Hooper, he’s been off in some **** leagues for big pay days, but he’s still only 32 and scored for fun at this level.
And it would probably piss off Scunthorpe too, so bonus. EDIT: He's signed for Kerala Blasters in India.
