Tomas Tavares of Benfica seems to have overtaken him in that regard, as he's reportedly available for £7-9m If we offload Aurier for £15m and bring in Tavares for £9m that works out nicely for us, as we'll have a player who can (hopefully...) develop into a £30-40m player a couple of seasons from now while also having a few quid in the pocket
Nope, this is easily the biggest signing we’ve made in the current era and I reckon the announcement video/ media shoots for him (as well as Reguilon to a degree) are on another level to what we’ve usually done. I’d be surprised if this is a just “we are delighted to announce the signing(s) of...”. Probably going to be a massive video, loads of photos, nostalgic stuff of Bale as well as in-depth interviews. My bet is it’ll be announced within an hour or two to accommodate the English, Asian and American fanbase.
Madrid are going to dig in about paying a % of his wages, he will not take a pay cut and we can not afford to pay him his previous wage. As for him wanting to come to us...yeah right
I have no idea and I'm not stirring! But normally when players arrive at Spurs with a view to sign, doesn't the announcement usually occur on the same day as most issues have been resolved elsewhere? Last time we were hanging on an announcement like this was with Willian!
Rumours are that 1. Real Madrid are playing games like they did with his transfer last season to China....and want a fee. 2. That Bale is carrying an injury which will keep him out for AT LEAST a month...mind you that is in the Star which also called him "the Real Madrid Flop" 3. Madrid are refusingto heavily subsidise his wages and he isn't prepared to save them money by tsking a cut in wages.
oh ... and I forgot 4. Hiag has been banging one out on the transfer thread on the premier league board and he is the ultimate reverse midas touch.
It’ll get announced today, pretty sure of it. Bale wouldn’t have been allowed to fly to London if terms with Madrid weren’t agreed, wouldn’t make sense. Don’t worry mate, you don’t have to RCL this one
Didn't make sense that thry chsnged the terms with the Chinese team last year but they still did it...Madrid are an arrogant twatty club and it would not surprise me to see them deliberately screw this up to get back at Bale...and us for making them pay through the nose for him 7 years ago. PS...RCL does as RCL is
I think their arrogance bit them last summer. Perez cancelled the deal because he wanted a proper fee for Bale and he probably expected someone to have made a significant offer over the last 12 months. No one has, we’ve since come along offering a loan and a percentage of wage and by the looks of things it’s the best possible deal Real have got. So they either accept (which I think they already have) or see him further rot on the bench collecting a full £600k wedge. For what it’s worth, I think both he and Reguilon are already Spurs players. Spurs have probably just worked on doing something massive presentation-wise (especially for Bale) and are looking for the ideal time to reach English/ American/ Asian etc audiences simultaneously.
