One of the very few reasons I look at facebook is to look at the swansea historical society pages also have a lot of old evening post books of swansea pics and history stuff, they used to have large prints in macro super warehouse before they closed and others on walls of various pubs n cafes scattered around the city. I find it al Fascinating . The reservoir in Brynmill Park was originally completed to supply water to the town in 1839. It became the centre of Swansea's first formal park in 1872, and a century ago local people were feeding the ducks just as we do today. In the distance is Townhill. In those days, it was undeveloped. Formerly a common, it had been divided into farms in the late 18th century. The housing development we know today was planned before the First World War, but was not built until afterwards.
Maybe because what's happening now is the reason that I'm looking back in the past than forward ,which is a sad indication imo of how I imagine few people are feeling right now
,,Swantastic, Your photographs gives a clue, ...... BOMBAY GRILL. ........ The invasion had started even then, ..... and they did not come by inflatables from France.
Weren’t the Asian Grill in Dillwyn Street and the Anglo Asian in St Helens Road the first Bangladeshi restaurants in Swansea....
I think the Anarkali was the first tandoori resteraunt but bound to be a few older curry houses too ?

Just found this , in my previous job working for the CEGB I along with the rest of the "gang" were involved in this project and had the task of erecting (and dismantling) the masts which the measuring instruments seen just to the left of the turbine were fitted. 16 10 foot sections per mast stayed every other section no wider than a foot and with 3 faces, held with 24 mm two bolts per face preset in concrete . I've never been worried about working at height but that job tested my sense of well being .No permanent attachment in those days just free climbing ( free falling wasn't a choice you'd want to make ) Funny my current and last job before I retire still involves large spinning things please log in to view this image https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/burry-port-wind-farm-llanelli-18956854
Talking curry... and not that long ago really but it's as far as my memory goes (if I'm lucky) unfortunately ...used to really enjoy a weekly or fortnightly visit to the all-you-can-eat at the Verandah on St Helens Road, the other side of the lights from the Anarkali (not sure of the spellings!).
You well may have have a Diploma in Punditry from Lawrenson Polytechnic but your spelling is atrocious
