68' Substitution Substitution, Brighton and Hove Albion. Haydon Roberts replaces Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
71' Goal! Brighton and Hove Albion 4, Portsmouth 0. Viktor Gyökeres (Brighton and Hove Albion) left footed shot from the left side of the six yard box.
71' Substitution Substitution, Portsmouth. Paul Downing replaces Jack Whatmough. Apparently, Jack Whatmough was limping a bit. Let's hope it's nothing too serious !!
82' Attempt saved. Sean Raggett (Portsmouth) header from very close range is saved in the top left corner. Assisted by Cameron Pring with a cross.
I know these two sides are two divisiones apart but a good tier oñe side does not get outplayed so easily by a lower half PL side. By my analysis Pompey are not that good. No shots on target.yet.
90' Attempt missed. Marcus Harness (Portsmouth) right footed shot from outside the box is close, but misses to the right. Assisted by Ellis Harrison.
Final whistle, and it's a 4-0 win for a very good Brighton side. Hopefully, Jack Whatmough's leg injury isn't too serious
That is pretty poor. Marquis is a good striker, however the system Jackett doesn't do him justice. Time for Kenny to have a big rethink about his tactics otherwise as things stand PFC will be nowhere near the play-off.
Final Match Stats:- Home Team: Brighton ..........Away Team: Portsmouth Possession: Home 61% Away 39% Shots: Home 23 Away 10 Shots on Target: Home 10 Away 2 Corners: Home 5 Away 12 Fouls: Home 8 Away 8
No less than I expected tbh. Even if Brighton made 11 changes, the gulf between the premier league and league one is so enormous that most prem 2nd XIs are the calibre of lower end Championship first XI at least
To me it is disappointing. Two efforts on target towards the *** end of the match. Perhaps someone will.answer this, have we got runners in the midfield that run at the opposition defence, that make runs to make more space for the lonesome striker. Maybe Jacobs can do a job there. It is all very well having midfielders who can do a reasonable job, but are they capable of penetrating opposition defences with a dribble, running into space. Curtis seems to be used mainly as a winger. He is much more than that. And playing oñe striker is not going to scare even the weaker defences in League 1.
