Get rid of Colback then give a 6 year deal to Hayden. Are we obliged to always have 1 **** midfielder on a massive contract?
To be honest Sean has looked ok through pre season, there is hope that he is returning to his early form. He certainly a lot more suited to changes than Shelvey is. To be honest though the idea of a holder (Hayden presently), a box to box (Hendrick) and a creator (Almiron) appeals most. Longstaff should be competing with Hendrick really. That will be a challenge for him too because Hendrick is your archetypical 7/10 every week. So if Longstaff can't get back and consistently he'll spend a lot of time watching wor Jeff I suspect.
Nah I think you are looking at it through tainted spectacles. I think he could have been fantastic but because you have this predetermined idea based on a terrible injury plagued season, I don't think it would matter. I've seen enough in the odd performance where his distribution is improving again and he is starting to pressure the ball again. Still a long way to go but happy to give it time and be rewarded. People need to chill out about him, perhaps people are forgetting he is only 22 and playing in the most crucial and challenging position on a football pitch.
If we are going to do that based on that game the list of players needing sold are as follows: Karl Darlow (Mark Gillespie 70), Javier Manquillo, DeAndre Yedlin (Paul Dummett 60), Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejuene (Federico Fernández 60), Jacob Murphy (Matt Ritchie 70), Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff (Daniel Barlaser 70), Christian Atsu (Ciaran Clark 60), Miguel Almirón (Andy Carroll 60), Allan Saint-Maximin (Henri Saivet 75) Or are we just targeting those we don't like cause they were all ****. I'm not into that and I did warn the drama queens not to base how we'd start the season based on pre season games. People never seem to learn this. Every time ending up looking incredibly stupid, but rinse and repeat the following year. Well worth investing the time in the Longstaff brothers, both have shown enough in their short careers that they are worth persevering with for now. To do otherwise is nothing short of moronic Neither may make the grade once fully developed, but its worth finding out. Either that or just scrap the youth system altogether.
He certainly has work to do to get back to his best. But his best was very very good so that alone makes the effort worthwhile. You don't have the biggest clubs in the country looking and Pep Guardiola praising you without some sort of good reason. With all due respect to yourself, these guys know a lot more about football and we'd be mad to just write him off. Put it this way if he was available on a free right now, he'd have a list of clubs as long as your arm at the top level across Europe ready to take a chance. Not sure where the sense is in us not having a little bit of patience. Its not indefinite. If he gets to 24 and has made zero progress, obviously you have to reassess but that is normal with any player regardless of age. Matt Ritchie has been fantastic for us. But me I'd sell him because I think his legs have gone. Its the same with any player, you've got to make the decisions at the right time, and it isn't here yet with Longstaff.
His best? When will people realise he was always useless. Man united looked at him and thought actually he's **** an never bothered looking again.. He's done it's was never what it appeared mate. How long will it take before people see just how out of his depth he is? I realised years ago tbh...
I voted 8. Sign an English striker Sign in a free an international winger who almost went to arsenal fit £30m Sign an Irish international midfielder from a team finishing consistently higher than us Sign a northern Irish defender who automatically becomes our best defender and should progress even further A third choice goalkeeper who happens to better than our second choice
Voted 6. In comparison to NUFC’s previous it’s probably an 8 but in real PL teams terms it’s a 6. Decent buys but nothing “special”. There’s no Ginola effect. When there is then we can start looking at the 8’s and 9’s.
7 for me. I think Hendrick will prove to be the best player we've signed so far. I agree wholeheartedly with @Welshie mid 3 of Hendrick, Hayden & Almiron with a front 3 of Max, Wilson & Fraser. Max and Fraser can switch with Miggy to keep the opposition guessing. Add in overlaps from Manq and Lewis and we should in theory have a decent attacking team going there
