Yet, you don't 'seem' to be taking it seriously, or at least accepting that it's a pandemic. There is significantly more than 40k that have died to date.
I do take it seriously. My experience of catching airborne diseases is that it is more likely spread by infected people coughing in your vicinity...not a one-off but many times. I avoid ignorant people who do this.
It is definitely a pandemic as the classical definition for a pandemic is “an epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international boundaries and usually affecting a large number of people" Stats at this time indicate 41667 deaths from 375228 confirmed cases: https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/united-kingdom?country=~GBR Of course there are likely to be other cases and deaths not diagnosed at this time Still the death rate is significantly lower than cancer and heart disease (approx. 165000 and 170000 annually respectively) so there are schools of thought that the measure being taken to fight covid are causing more deaths due to lack of treatment for other diseases
I'm pleased you're taking it seriously. Wear a mask and keep safe all of you, I don't want to be going to any more funerals soon. The Coach and Belle Vue were shut last week because someone tested positive. Apparently its rife along Low Fell.
It's rife around Hebburn too and that's passing it into Jarra. No surprise that Hebburners struggle with the idea of washing hands and that
The number of people that are still considering it to be a 'hoax or ignoring the potential severity is utter madness. There is a reason why cases are increasing - selfishness and pure stupidity.
That's because a lot of those wasters aren't following the guidance. Regardless of how inconsistent it is, the basics have never changed.
Clever virus is this, targeting pubs, local sports teams and peoples homes. Turns out its nocturnal too No ****er is dying from it. At present we have a 40K death toll. However we already know a lot of those deaths are misrecorded as COVID (unless you believe deaths from other things suddenly and mysteriously dropped off a cliff...) On top of that this minor lockdown and restrictions is based on a rise in cases. Cases from dodgy inaccurate testing. I know of some ridiculous situations with the testing. One example the other day - 5 lads had to be tested for their 5 a side league. Went to get a test. "Sorry we've have no tests left, you would have to travel to Galashiels or Cumbria". So off they trundle home. Later that evening all 5 get a text to say they've tested positive for COVID. Despite not being tested You then have the 77 american footballers from 11 different teams, all false positives. If the testing is this inaccurate, why on earth would be base such crucial decisions on it. There are countless risks we accept every day when walking out the door. With all due respect to those at risk and living in fear of this thing, the government can get ****ed with their stupid rules, ****e testing and blatant lies. I have an 88 yr old granny with breathing difficulties. I wouldn't take any risks. Certainly if you are in a high risk group (elderly or underlying condition) then I can understand you might want to isolate. Fair enough. Absolutely no reason to ask the rest of the population to live under restrictions. Especially not ones which make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Also if those in the at risk groups want, they should be allowed to take their chances. Life is short and fragile. ****ing suicides have doubled since the alleged 'pandemic' started by the way. I guess that doesn't matter though. As long as we don't have people catching something less deadly than the ****ing flu. One thing that needs to happen pronto is the pious ****ing looking down on people not buying into this ****. Each to their ****ing own and respect peoples choices/freedoms. I've heard it said you can't isolate a section of the population because the rest will spread it to them. Again bollocks. Needless to say I'll be doing as I ****ing please as far as I can
I cannot believe how the Gov can do a blanket ban on the North East and miss out the Teesside area for the last couple of months all we heard on local News and TV was the Teesside area was badly affected They didn't lock down all of Birmingham and the surrounding 50 miles when it was rife in that area they didn't lock down Leeds and other major towns when it was rife in Bradford they didn't lock down all of London when they should of done it I think we are the Guinea Pigs for a new strategy from the government to see if the type of Lock down they are imposing on us is the correct type to impose on the rest of the country
Shields is just as bad. Don't live there anymore but certain members of extended family- wasters I might add - were having barbecues and inviting people outside of their household. Idiots.
As much as I like to have a dig at the Government over most things, the request for a local lockdown came from the five T&W Authorities, plus Northumberland and Durham. The leader of Newcastle Council in particular had been quite vocal over the concern of the spike in cases. The government acted on the request.
I've heard a whisper from my brothers friend, who's dad is one of the leading experts and on the news quite frequently, full national lock-down again on the 28th as the R-rate is increasing again. If the R-rate is up its the right and only thing to do. 6 week lockdown to the end of October (bypassing Halloween) to get it back under control. Stay safe all x
What the **** were the Government expecting? August - go out and eat and we'll pay half your bills for ya September - go to your rooms....you've all been naughty boys and girls. This is turning into a ****ing shambles now and people are not going to pay attention to this at all in my opinion. As has already been said, if the problems is a certain age group (i.e. 17-25) then ban them ****ers from pubs and buying drink....ANYWHERE. Closing pubs and eating places at 10pm is just shifting the problem. Places will just open up earlier. All these half arsed attempts are a waste of ****ing time. I can't go to the pub with a few mates and have a few beers, but I can sit there with the mrs in a pub full of strangers....get ****ed man.
On the subject of the younger people, these are also the people likely on lower wages that have to work to be able to afford the rent etc. So may go to work to earn money as they can't afford to self isolate and feed their family. I doubt it's just people being selfish in pubs. Also doesn't help that the government restrictions are basically everything you do is unsafe unless money is changing hands. One example I heard this week that if you are in a rambling group, 30+ people can go for a walk together. If you are not in a registered rambling group it's illegal for more than 6 of you to go for a walk. In both scenarios, you are doing the exact same thing so how is it safe to be in a group of 30 if you have paid your subs to the local group but not safe if you want to meet up with the family next door?
