Adrian Riley has been commissioned to design the artwork for a centre piece on the new housing estate where Boothferry Park used to stand.
He is asking for ideas and memories to help create this artwork.

Its good news this because I remember when planning permission for the housing estate was first applied for and in the original plans a centre piece garden where the centre spot of the pitch stood was supposed to have been included. I thought it had been discarded and forgotten about.
Here's your chance to have a say.

Great idea. I'd suggest he only needs to read Richard Gardhams book 'The Decade' for inspiration.

Good as though Richards book is the hey days of Boothferry Park were in the mid 60's when the ground was considered amongst the best if the country. By 'The Decade' it was a three sided ground falling to bits with the Railway Halt gone, the gymnasium unusable as a gymnasium and the imposing North Stand, one of the newest stands in the country when it was demolished, was a supermarket.

We don't need yet another footballer in action statue. How about this 50s/60s/70s Tiger crest in stainless steel steel in concrete, say 1 m in diameter ?

Wording like 'This was the home of Hull Cify AFC from 1946- 2002' or summat similar

I'm not sure about anything anymore. Maybe I wasn't there at all and it was all a dream?

There's people on here who clearly know more than I do.

I'd like to see a miniature scaled recreation of the stadium cast in bronze.

My idea would be a grassed rectangle with 6 streetlight / spotlights illuminating it. Not sure how much space there is available.

It would be a great idea, however, council grass cutting cutbacks would see the hallowed turf resembling a cow field, people would allow their pet pooches to **** on it and then,as part of the latest bizarre 'doggy bag' craze, the streetlights/spotlights would have have little bags of dog **** draped from them...

In saying that,my scale model stadium would probably have white gloss paint thrown over it....

You just jogged my memory Ric, last week I found myself driving down the dual carriageway of Holwell Road, the one that cuts through Sutton Fields Industrial estate, I honestly couldn’t believe how bad the central reservation is, it used to resemble a beautiful lawn, now it’s completely covered in tightly packed thistles and weeds of over four feet in height. It looks an absolute disgrace!

I'm afraid it seems to be a sign of the times.I complain to my local council on a regular basis regarding grass cutting/weed suppression etc.

Our public areas of grass used to be cut 28 times a year,in 2017/2018 it was reduced to 21,and in 18/19 reduced to 14!!!

50% cut to our cuts....Reminiscent of myself at weekends ,'half cut':emoticon-0105-wink:

What about incorporating the name plate into a train representing a football special, so it flags the history of Boothferry Halt and incorporates supporters?
