I just think he never really settled at the club, despite his influence on the pitch and his family loving the life there. By all accounts he eventually picked up enough Spanish to get by so that doesn’t seem to be the issue these days but I just think his teammates (with the exception of Modric) never really welcomed him. Even in the early days you’d see him score and nobody was rushing to celebrate with him. Eventually the whole ZZ thing happened and with a long contract and a happy family he’s just thought **** it, I’ll wait it out. Can’t blame him tbh.
