Probably because he was our assistant manager for about 8 weeks.

As long as Ba plays a little deeper to help out the midfield then I'm happy with that. My only concern is getting over-run in the centre like we did against QPR, but Ba playing more of a link-up role should help.

Elliot*, Santon, Guthrie, Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands.

*Pardew's new thing is rotating the keeper on the bench so none feel they are "3rd choice".

If this was a 4-4-2 with Nolan in it I'll be worried! But with Cabaye's box-to-box play and Tiote's defensive ability then I think we'll be fine against the likes of O'Hara and Henry who wouldn't get into our team anyways. <ok>

Funny how at least three players on our bench (Santon, Marveaux and Ben Arfa) could comfortably slot into the starting 11 of most EPL teams outside the top 6.

They had a brief word about Newcastle before they talked to Steve Kean. Stelling asked is it luck that Newcastle are 4th and he said no. Lost our core players but we have a lot more flair and creativity and Cabaye is a great buy. I paused it so i'm catching up with it, hopefully they will carry it on after the break.

Merson said the usual. Went back to the QPR game and said we are "punching WELL above our weight" and wants to see what happens when we go on a run where we don't win. Did say we have been comfortable in other games but doesn't see this run going far.
Le Tiss said it was good we secured Jonas as he would have been the next one to leave out of the core players.
3 out of 4 predicted we will lose, Le Tiss said we will draw. Hopefully they are all wrong.

The match isn't airing until 12:30 ET (5:30 GMT) over here, so I'll have to avoid the board come kick-off, HTL!
