Liverpool hit by financial blow as Reds face biggest coronavirus bill in Premier League The Premier League champions were in line to receive the biggest share of television revenue but have now been hit hardest as each club has to reimburse out-of-pocket broadcasters https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-hit-financial-blow-reds-22681986
apparently from this year the winners of LC will not qualify for Europa League but a 3rd level UEFA tournament called UEFA Europa Conference League . So that should end PL interest in it.
Yeah I doubt Man City will be bothered trying to win it yet again now they’ve announced that mate......
no i don't but it is an added incentive as it is very noticeable how PL teams are suddenly more interested in the EL following the decision to give a CL place to the winners .
I've said the cups should be given a CL spot for years to stop weakened teams being fielded. But tbf, the cups are usually won by the top clubs each year anyway. I agree with Tobes when he says the top clubs don't try and win it because of what's on offer, they don't, they just want another trophy in the cabinet.
really not sure any PL club is going to want to be in this new comp and if UEFA get the impression it is being disrespected they tend to get the hump and try and find ways to penalise the clubs / leagues .
In Europe, any European competition is seen as a positive. Its only here that considers anything other than CL isn't worth the hassle. Being in the Europa League could help player recruitment. IMO, they should have just brought the Cup Winners Cup back if they really wanted that third competition again
You're 100% correct in everything you've said about this. While the bigger clubs sack this off, clubs like Everton field their strongest possible side in the LC every year, firstly because they're desperate to win something and secondly because of entry into Europe. It may be viewed differently now that European place has been taken away. Still expect those clubs to play their strongest side though.
As I said, it's the side in this country. Obviously, it's not going to attract the top top players that could play for anyone because they can just join a CL club, but being in EL may swing it in your favour over a club that isn't
I think you're right. I also think there are different kinds of players nowadays. There are the ambitious ones who want to play for the best teams and win things and then there are those who will go to whoever offers them the most money.
