If you are ever in the West Sussex area, if you can, pay a visit to the Weald and Downland open air museum.

They have a fine collection of old houses from late Saxon times, through the medieval era and up to early Victorian times.

It's near Goodwood race course in Singleton.

    Yeah...works for weatherspoons.
She said that punters are ignoring the distancing rules, putting down false info on the contact sheets and staff are only getting statutory sick pay if they are off due to having symptoms so staff are coming in.
It's bizarre that she has to ask for ID for proof of age if a drinker looks under 25 but they can't ask for proof of ID for trace and contact information.

The government have bollocksed this up big time.

As an aside she pointed out that pub and restaurant staff were not given days off on Monday-Wednesdays during the eat out cheaply weeks (cos they were so busy). This meant those staff couldn't get a treat like others!

Must be a nightmare in the food /pub industry at the moment. Suspect jobs will soon be going in their tens of thousands.

Well it shouldn't be her job to make sure contact information is right in the first place. Unless she's getting formal training in GDPR regulations and a pay rise to reflect her responsibility.

Not suggesting it is her responsibility mate...but GDPR regulations in all places collecting the contact info is ignored as everyone can see what others have written.
The point I was making was that if they think someone looks younger than 25 they ask for ID to prove they are over 18...yet the Government are asking for contact information but do not require proof from those leaving their info that it is accurate. It is completely insane imho.

It will be more pointless when the app is released that lets people "check in" at places like pubs. Staff can't be expected to start checking people's phones so all they have to do is say they already did it on the app.

    Totally agree.

And as someone who takes this seriously I can't say I blame them for lying.

If you follow all the rules, go into the pub go outside in the garden, sit with a mate away from others why would you risk being told to stay at home for 2 weeks and lose money after losing so much already this year?

    I'll bite.

I had swine flu and was seriously ill and a friend of a friend died from it. Just because in hindsight the virus wasn't as destructive as was forecast, doesn't mean that we shouldn't have prepared for it.

What do you want them to do, nothing? Should we just give up on developing vaccines in case the viruses aren't going to kill everyone?

Do you want COVID vaccine development to stop, despite it already killing tens of thousands of Brits and with a vaccine the only realistic way we can get back to 'normal' life?

Coronavirus vaccines being developed in China may be ready for use by the general public as early as November, an official with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said.

China has four COVID-19 vaccines in the final stage of clinical trials. At least three of those have already been offered to essential workers under an emergency use programme launched in July.

Phase 3 clinical trials were proceeding smoothly and the vaccines could be ready for the general public in November or December, CDC chief biosafety expert Guizhen Wu said in an interview with state TV late on Monday.
