Cheers Dave. This has been a really difficult couple of days, with no "one size fits all" solution to the complaints and counter complaints. I've been asking some serious questions of myself today and top of the list was "why did I agree to become a SAFC mod?"
They bloody well better or it'll be the Rugby WC in our house & I'll be a VERY sad camper untill next week
This board will be a train wreck tomorrow evening if we don't win. I think I may make alternative plans for tomorrow evening or go and dig out my tin hat from the loft!
I agree Cest, and the best way to get rid of them is to just PM a mod rather than replying. You reply, they reply, you reply they reply...... It goes something like, your a dick, your a ****, your **** for brains, your football team is ****, your football team is scum, my dad's bigger than your dad.... PM a mod they delete the offending post, job done. If they persist Mods contact the site owners for a ban from the whole site. It only works though if the SAFC fans PM a mod rather than replying with their own abuse. If you think throwing abuse at someone on a forum is defending our club I think your wrong. To be honest Syd and the other lads, your doing a great job, this sort of thing happens on forums all the time, it will work itself out, just do the best you can and have thick skin.
The differences at the moment are role reversals from previous seasons, just a case of getting out of hand but to go as far as suggesting physical and stabbing(slotting) people over a disagreement is too far especially on public forum. Some of the abuse is unwarranted towards people but there is thinly veiled digs in some posts which is where the problems are occuring. Rarely post but visit here occasionaly, my last visit was a stream of abuse. I agree with chappaz how he was insulted yet couldn't defend himself isn't on, some of his posts are close to the edge but they generally decend into anarchy after the abuse towards him. It also seems to be the same people targetting him and rarely post elsewhere unless he has posted there. As a suggestion you could always use the "report" button which would bring it to the mods attention. Also the ignore option would help some people on here with issues.
Well said Vegas and thanks You've hit the nail on the head when you say that responding to offensive posts doesn't help, because every time one of us does it, the situation quickly spirals out of control and the thread is ruined. I'm all for the banter between fans and defending our club, but mindless abuse, such as the regular 2 words "f**k off" is just not necessary and is typed by the poster for one reason only, to enflame the situation and start the bickering off. A number of people are complaining that threads are being ruined. I say that the primary cause of this, is the instant abusive responses that some of our members make to a perfectly reasonable post or thread from a mag. Is a little bit of tolerance too much to ask for, if it resulted in an improved forum, interesting threads, good banter and happier members on both sides?
I'm well oiled now so will only answer - THIS! Vegas has posted about having been a mod in the past, and I've been involved with similar, and however hard you try someone will have a go at you about "democracy" and "denying rights" - while they ignore the democratic rights of others on the forum. You have a hard job lads, and it's appreciated by 99% of us out there.
Cest Callahan: "Dirty Makem" You know, you're crazy if you think you've heard the last of this guy. He's gonna kill again........
Much more eloquently put than I did a couple of weeks ago. Like I said then, if you put the Mag's before your own, you're on a very slippery slope. (Like Cest I'm not talking about the Mag's who are genuinely here for debate, but the ****wits that spend more time here than on their own board making snidey comments every other post.) Saying WE should have to make an effort to keep the peace on the Sunderland board makes me really laugh out loud. Putting the Mugs on ignore disrupts the threads just as much as their puerile posts. All you Neville Chamberlains could always have your interaction with the piss takers on their own board, then the rest of the Sunderland fans can get on with talking about legitimate Sunderland highs and lows in peace. You want appeasement you aint gonna get from me, if the ****ers come here swinging I swing back simples! If that is too much for your delicate sensibilities then like I said weeks ago it is me you are going to have to BAN! Then you can have your football forum all to yourself patting each other on the back and abusing fellow Mackems who don't toe the line. (Odd how the same faces who abuse fellow Mackem's also defend the Scum!)
I rest my case. This ignorant ****er never ever contributes anything to our board. ( Mainly because he is thick as pigs ****!) Even his own think he is a moron.
That is really not very good...now come on Box head THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
