Well we play with two wide players - Armstrong & Redmond. He definitely wouldn't start over Armstrong and Redmond was brilliant last season so he wouldn't automatically take his place either. Not sure where he would be starting in a 4222 system.
Your final word is the key one one. Squad. He would absolutely make most of our match day squads - for the exact reason you allude to. We have barely any depth at all. If Boufal is on his way out, then we'll only just about fill a full bench (without turning to the youth team) even if everyone is fit and available. But there's a difference between making the squad, and making the first XI. Sure, they'll be many times that Armstrong or Redmond are unavailable, such that someone needs to come into replace them. So he could easily end up starting about one-third of matches if we were to bring him in. But unless one of those two was to pick up a long term injury, he would only get in ahead of them on a regular basis if Ralph was to choose to leave one of them out on a regular basis. And I don't see that happening. Would you leave one of them out on a regular basis? Chelsea are not going to want him sitting on the bench of a mid-table PL side. And we're not going to pay about £100k a week for someone to do that either.
Hudson-Odoi would be our best wide player so not sure why people think he wouldn’t play many games. The reason it won’t happen is he is on too much money
I have never been ipressed with Hudson-Odoi whenever I have seen him play. Seems to greatly over-estimate his own ability relative to those around him. If we were looking at Chelsea players to take on loan I would be far more interested in Loftus-Cheek or Billy Gilmour
Loftus-Cheek is an interesting one. Looked quite promising during his year at Palace. And then featured a fair amount the following season. But he's barely kicked a ball in the two and a bit years since. Granted he spent one of those years out injured, but he's almost 25 now and there's little prospect of him getting much game time at Chelsea this season I'd have thought. For the good of his career, he probably needs to move on. (I'm not sure Chelsea would want to lose him, mind. He gives them a useful back-up option, whilst qualifying as a home-grown player.)
Monk on SW has just posted a name on the transfer thread, He use to be quite in the know in the past., RLC.
That’d be pretty awesome. Do we think it is a loan, loan with an option to buy, or straight out purchase?
They’ll just switch to landscape format. It’s a shame Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has retired, he’d fit right in.
Maybe we should look at a few Welsh players from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
He was sadly responsible for the entire shirt name printing staff at Cardiff City going on strike when he wanted to be known as Kévin Théophile-Catherine of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch I heard.
Memorised lol. Actually I did over 30 years ago memorise for a dare the longest name in New Zealand Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahornukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. I can still say it now lol. It was also a song and the way I learned it was I bought it as a 45 (remember those!) and played it at 33 and wrote it out phonetically and learned it. Sad but true. Around the same time I learned to juggle and fire eat too (another true story )
