I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen a team outside the big six complain about a penalty or big decision given or not given in their favour. You watch the footage and agree with them. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a harsh decision given against the likes of Man U or Chelsea against a lower team
According to stats by WyScout, new England international Phillips completed 85 per cent of his attempted passes against Liverpool with 73 per cent of his forward passes finding their target. He also made three interceptions and completed nine recoveries to help Leeds win possession back from the current Premier League champions. ——————————— Stats by WyScout show that Hernandez completed just 58 per cent of his passes at Anfield this weekend and lost possession 13 times. The attacking midfielder also managed just one touch inside the home side’s penalty area, didn’t assist any shots and failed to complete any dribbles before he was substituted off just after the hour mark.
Did anyone notice how i said klich first touch was awful during the game. Then the barsteward went and showed me up with his touch for his goal. Wakey strikes again..
How many did you guys get last season? You're heading for a record 76 if you keep this up. Main reason we get upset about penalties is that we hardly get any - and if anyone in the Championship was considered 'top 6', it would have been us. We went over a year without a penalty. Couple of seasons ago, so fairly recently. We also had the unenviable record of being awarded 106 corners without scoring. One thing I (think I) noticed was that your guys rarely shoot along the floor, especially in the box. You seem to hit it upwards. Deliberately, I'd say - in search of pens with these new bloody rules. Think we're a bit naive about these things atm.
Not sure how many we were awarded last season, but as second highest scorers in the league (behind City) we would expect to earn a higher percentage. If you maintain your attacking style throughout the season you are bound to see some penalties awarded I would think. And I don't particularly buy your theory on the shooting upwards looking for pens.
Don't worry WJ, it will even itself out over the season. Liverpool will get 3 against us and so will Man U... no favouritism you see.
Anyway, moving on. It's the Mighty 'Ull on Wednesday. Are you thinking we will field the U21 or U23 team?
Exactly. It’s still the same ‘human’ referees making the decisions, even if with or without video reviews. Humans, still open to the same external ‘pressures’ from the powers that be, teams of influence, financial(?) etc etc as it’s always been. Same ole same ole..
If it were me, I’d play Koch and Struijk together and give them more game time understanding each other. If Cooper is fit, I’d give him 45 minutes run out and I’d go with Gelhardt, Alioski and Poveda up front. Shackleton and Bogusz in the middle, Douglas in at LB we need to keep the fringe players sharp
I hope Rodders and Koch both play on Wednesday to get them up to speed sooner rather than later. please log in to view this image
And they will tell you how they were cheated out of a CL final with a handball decision that never was
