I think the raised arm and the big kock actually moving it and playing the ball to knock it down or stun it makes it a penalty. Stop clutching at straws guys it was a penalty. The new guys fecked up big time.
Read the rule again Wakey, no way was it a penalty, it was like 100th of a second from hitting his knee to hand, impossible to react that quick.
As a defender you have to understand if you put your arm in that position you are taking a chance......
If you'd bothered to follow the link to the rule (law) change then you'd know that the incident you're using as an example occured before the change in interpretation came into effect. That's the problem with the supporters of the bigger and most successful clubs...even when the rules change you don't think it should apply to you.
.............no two penalty decisions are ever the same, and the new laws are still open to interpretation. A penalty was given and you have to live with it. You will be given pens. this season that the opposition will strongly disagree with. That's football.
No penalty. please log in to view this image Penalty please log in to view this image Either way...Liverpool seem to get the rub of the green in recent times with these type of decisions when you add the above CL final one in too.
The ref not seeing correctly or making the wrong decision. to fans of big clubs not thinking the rules apply to them is a strange take away tbh I only posted the sissoko pic because your lad had his arm out just the same. it's always a risk waving your arms about when defending in your box as is shown time and time again hence most putting thier arms behind them when in the situation you had yesterday. Id have no sympathy if it was vvd who done that either. I absolutely rinsed trent yesterday when he nodded that og in as all he had to do was wait for the ball to drop and clear it. Van Dijk got called all sorts too for acting like he's so good he doesn't need to try and conceding from it. Great game though a draw wouldn't have been unfair
*shrugs* swings and roundabouts mate, we lost the title cos this was apparently offside. please log in to view this image
If we're awarded a penalty for a ricocheted handball I'll be absolutely gobsmacked. Let's see how many more are awarded this season (for all teams) and which ones are favoured with that interpretation
I'm not too bothered by the argument about whether it is or it isn't, just trying to point out that the officials are not consistent with this ****. Don't take it personally Sucky, these things happen. It's just frustrating when decisions go against your team and you feel wronged. Never helps when the opposition fans defend their team by defending a wrong decision. As for us lot, we've had some shockers over the last few years in the Championship and with VAR in operation in the PL I naively thought it would be harder to screw us over in this division. Proved wrong inside 3 minutes! I don't know why it wasn't checked. I don't give a **** what the handball rules are tbh, I just want consistency. At the moment it's not there.
Have to say so far we're looking the best of the promoted sides and the rest aren't showing anything to be scared of, looking forward to a good season.
Yeh fair play Emu I respect that You as fans and certainly the players can take a lot of confidence from that going forward imho, even though the result wasn't there you showed you can play your own game effectively in the prem and forced a fair few of our mistakes by going toe to toe with us. Great to see tbh clubs often come to Anfield hoping to scrape something so it was a great spectacle as far as 1st games go. @Gessa my avi is booked up til the 10th Oct, (lost another bet) but I'll shout ya when it's time
Agreed, it’s common knowledge penalty decisions go in favour of the big 5-6 more often than not. I’m not bitching about it, just a fact of the PL and it happens to everyone outside those 6. Last season the two Manchester clubs, 25 combined penalties in their favour (13+12) and just 6 (3+3) against
That does kind of ignore how much time better teams spend in the opposition box compared to their opponents
