It surprises me to be honest. Thought Hart would play a much smaller role and not make the bench all that often. Maybe Jose sees something we don’t, or maybe Gazza is just an easier non-HG player to shift and it’s all part of the grand plan.
I clearly said that we do I also clearly said that the selective amnesia about Son being able to play up front is getting bizarre at this point considering that was the basis of so many "We'll be fine if we sell Harry Kane" arguments
That’s the only logical thing I can think of. Independiente probably the favourites now seeing as Fulham signed Areola on loan and Villa have signed Martinez. Unless another club comes in of course. Little disappointed to be honest, I like what Hart brings from an experience/ mentality standpoint but he’s been nothing short of dreadful for 2+ years now, huge risk if Hugo picks up a knock and we rely on him long term.
Not feeling it today - Confidence here is low; We are slow starters, Harry doesn't score in the first match of the season, They will be buoyed by their new signings I have watched 3 matches so far this weekend they have all been away wins! Oh dear COYS
On the one hand that side looks pretty balanced, albeit lacking a dedicated creative player On the other hand we all know that somebody's getting sent off for a fair tackle in the 32nd minute as usually happens...
Disappointed Sess didn’t make the bench either. He had a decent enough pre-season I felt. All in all I’m pretty underwhelmed if truth be told. Not chuffed with the XI in certain positions and not overly happy with some of the bench selection either. Hoping this acts as a RCL’ing though.
I don't think that Hart deserves to replace him. He should have to earn that spot. I expect you're right about Gazzaniga. Let's hope that we've got a good replacement lined up.
As I said elsewhere a few days ago, I am expecting (and tolerating) N games of meh between now and the Man Utd game. All that matters to me is to : 1. win all of them (to get morale going) 2. rotate the line-ups so that the squad as a whole is getting serious competitive game time in their legs at such an early stage of the season 3. avoid < standard> injuries to key players. After that, I expect the formation(s) and style that Jose intends to campaign on this season to be quite evident.
Think it’ll be Whiteman. Counts as CG/ HG. Meaning we’ve somewhat unnecessarily weakened our GK options from last season.
He needs to go out on loan and gain some experience. I really hope this isn't what we've got in mind.
I like Gazza a lot, I first saw him play at The Gills, and was delighted when we signed and when he deputised for Hugo he did well and rightly became 2nd chocie ahead of Vorm, but last season he didn't inspire with confidence in the games he played the penalty save v Watford aside I thought he was fairly average. More importantly he didn't seem to inspire confidence in our defence, now I know that the shielding in front of them didn't do much for confidence either, but maybe Hart being a more vocal character may be better, though as you said earlier his form over the last few seasons doesn't suggest that he will be an improvement.
So do I but I think it’s what’ll happen, with Austin going on another loan as he’s the one with the higher ceiling.
He certainly showed me that he’s not good enough to displace Lloris on a full time basis but I think he represents a solid back up keeper and when comparing to many around the league I think he’s one of the better second choices. Hart has more experience, leadership and vocal attributes but his actual goalkeeping has been shocking and far worse than Gazza’s in my opinion. I was really happy to bring Hart in as I thought he’d be an ideal and experienced option to replace Vorm as 3rd choice. But replacing/ demoting Gazzaniga doesn’t sit too well if I’m honest.
Well Everton are not Leeds or West Brom. This could be a very good Everton tream....if they click....and I hope they don't today. You've got to be at your best Spurs.COYS!
