Decent performance that. Thought Lewis looked steady, but nervy at first with his passing but grew into the game. Had a very quiet second half. Impressed with Hendrick and surprised at how quick Wilson is, he's gonna be a handful and exactly what we need.

West Ham are **** and ****ing filthy. ASM's shirt was green and black by the time he went off.

Nice draw for the mackems anarl...they'll piss that league <laugh><laugh>

Lewis was quiet second half because Bruce read this thread mate, half time he popped on his blackberry and read my opinions.

We transitioned our play onto the right hand side, they collapsed.

Building up a decent little team.

I remember a couple of years back it was said Ashley wanted to buy one or two big players per year instead of the old way of buying a load of cheap players & it’s starting to look like it’s half way starting to pay off. The squad looks the best it has in a long time. British core too.

Just watched the full game this morning. Thought it was a pretty good performance. A lot more energy in midfield now with Hendricks and thought Lewis had a good solid game as well. Amazing the difference having a striker who makes lots of runs. Wilson actually made Carroll look a lot better.

All in all side looked well-balanced and plenty on the bench as well.

Having read the thread I’ll probably not be very popular.

Positives: I thought it was a good win. We were very organised. Debutants did well, Hendricks in particular caught the eye with typically industrious work. First day and all that, you can never really knock a win and clean sheet away too much. I think there is plenty in the squad to work with.

Negatives: West Ham were shocking and look to have a mutiny going on. We played archaic 90’s football for long periods, There was a fair bit of pumping it up top with Carroll on. I think mildly better sides would just pass around us. Bruce took ****ing ages to realise we were desperate for fresh legs. I still think we have a huge problem in centre midfield with Hayden/Shelvey. The more I look where Bruce is trying to go, the less I think it will suit the latter.

All in all I think it’ll be as I expected, staying up comfortably but not really progressing. Nothing against Bruce but I’m not convinced he will make the most of Almiron/ASM/Fraser/Wilson. I think you need a more modern manager who plays a slicker style.
