When we have had the ball there has been no urgency or speed to our build up and their back 9 are finding it too easy to defend against. Smallbone needs to come off, looks like Djenepo is our only real option. The strikers are barely involved so might even be worth taking Adams off for a midfielder, but we don't really have many options.
Definitely a lack of urgency. Because of the slow movement of the ball, and lack of movement up front, JWP isn’t getting a chance to link with the forwards. Smallbone and Redmond both need to be showing more for the forward passes, but every player needs to go up about 3 gears. We are stuck in first, which is making it look as if Palace have the best defensive game in the league. But getting back to their goal, no way should we be passing a free kick sideways, when it is just 40 yards or so from their goal, except to create a better angle to get it into the box.
Unfortunately I can't really see anyone on the bench that is going to add the urgency that Armstrong brings. That responsibility has to rest with those on the pitch already. I really hope we can get something out of this game. Not just because an hour ago I had high hopes of a European slot next summer, but I really don't want to read the usual doom and gloom about another relegation fight and how the Spurs game is a must win match
