You mean the time where Man Utd literally held us to ransom by telling us to sell them Berbatov - who was at their training ground and had completed his medical, neither of which with the club's knowledge - and if we didn't raise a fuss they'd loan us Frazer Campbell for the season so we wouldn't be short of personnel up front? If you think Levy is to blame for that you either have a poor memory, or you're hoping that everyone else reading that comment has poor memories so you can dupe them with an outright lie - and if it's the latter, it's not the first time you've used a blatant strawman on here today, nor is it the first time I've called you on it...
Difficult when a player makes it clear he wants to leave, but Levy basically bent over and lubed himself up over the Berbatov transfer.
We were actually on course to keep Berbatov if I remember rightly as Utd weren't willing to meet our £30m valuation but then City offered it on or just before deadline day and so it forced Utd's hand. We also signed Pavlyuchenko that summer too and (weirdly) signed Bent the season before so the club/ Levy probably thought Bent, Pav and then Campbell on loan would be sufficient... Though it wasn't as we brought Defoe back in the following January following a disastrous start to the season where 'Arry gave birth to the "2 points from 8 games" phrase after taking over in October.
It was deadline day City had just got the money and they signed a Brazillian striker whose name escapes me and wanted Berbatov too.
Oh **** yeah, forgot they got Robinho then. A player that never reached their full potential, despite a trophy laden career. Could've been one of the world's best in my opinion, he was basically the Neymar of that era but didn't kick on.
Wasn;t the loan of Campbell a puny attempt by Man Utd to ease Levy putting them thru the wringer every step of the Berbatoss saga (you know, the wringer that led Fergie to famously say that his hip surgery was less painful than dealing with Levy) .
How? He rejected their offers If you want an example of a club getting bent over the table by Man Utd, look no further than Arsenal meekly allowing Robin van Persie to join them like the selling club that they are
Levy should've turned them down anyway and kicked the whole thing off with the authorities. They basically held one of our players hostage on transfer deadline day. Nothing would've happened to them, but we wouldn't have given them their own way and we wouldn't have got Frazier Campbell.
Definitely looks like it's a goer. Just about all media outlets are saying it's close. Good luck to Danny, man. Serie A should really suit him nowadays, slower pace than the Prem and a lot better for longevity in a player's career. Said some silly **** and couldn't really maintain the great level he was at for a few years but can never really say he didn't give 100%, even if it did look like he'd put on weight for a spell. Easily scored the best NLD goal I've seen live and one of the best in general. Actually seems like a top bloke as well (moaning aside!); battled and spoke out on mental health, donated a large sum to North Mid along with providing loads of domino pizzas to the staff and seemingly agreed with his teammates and fans by writing "Mousa Dembele is the GOAT" on his whiteboard at the darts
Man United legend Berbatov believes the Blues paid too much for the German. “I think the amount of money spent on Kai Havertz was a little too much for my taste,” he told Betfair. “It’s ridiculous, it’s too much money. Havertz is a great talent, and I have said that in the past, I am a big fan of his and with my Leverkusen connection I was keeping a keen eye on him every week, but still the money that they have paid is crazy.”
I hope he goes. Chelsea will probably try to fill his role with Abraham, which is understandable given their ages. They may feel they're a little short there, though. Might be someone else coming in.
I really think he would have been perfect for Spurs Knows the league inside out and a different option to Kane. Selling him puts pressure on Werner and Tammy. Hopefully they both crumble under it and hardly score any goals
I’d take Giroud all day long too but as PNP says they’d never sell him to us. Abramovic even refused to sell us Carlton Cole!
