I’ve just read that statement. I note that it doesn’t say when it was supposedly rejected on those grounds, nor does it say that the consortium are still willing buyers. I also note that the Geordies are now applauding Ashley for his stance here. So he goes from pariah to hero, the day after he’s actually bought some players and 3 days before the start of the new season. I’m sure all of those things are purely coincidental.

If the PL rejection is current (the statement doesn’t say that) then you would have been correct in saying that it hadn’t been withdrawn from the PL, which goes completely against what they’ve said publicly on the issue since the PIF announcement.
