Interesting - I'd not thought of it like that. I think that it might actually show other clubs we're willing to be sensible if you come to the table with a reasonable offer. I don't think it provides reasonable comparisons with other players though, other than maybe Max - a fullback price, however good, is not the same as a creative midfielder's price...

Also, in a funny way it might put off other clubs, who now know we've probably banked enough money to cover the season just from the Lewis sale so, even if we were bluffing and had needed to sell, other clubs will be sure we are definitely not desperate.

Ollie Watkins from Brentford apparently nearing a £28m move to Villa. So still some money in the Prem for championship talents. Curious how quickly Brentford can spend that money, or how much it hurts their early form. I think I'd read that they'd already signed a striker.

Ivan Toney, from Peterborough. League One Player of the Season; 24 goals and 6 assists in 32 league matches. Celtic were interested in signing him I believe.

The data-driven club par excellence. Just looked at their Championship squad: 12 different Nationalities represented.

Viila, Leeds spending some large sums. Not sure about WBA but read somewhere that they are looking at Deeney from Watford on loan.

Well let’s hope he makes it with NUFC. So the coffers are now better off by at least £15m. Right, now for Beundia, Cantwell, Aarons and Godfrey. Rumours about Cantwell have dried up some time ago.

Hmm maybe so, but I think you've got confused with a Middlesbrough midfielder.

He's No Goh. I think he's Vietnamese rather than Chinese by the way.

Vital Norwich says: "The fee is reported at being £15m plus add-ons and a significant sell-on fee."

That sounds good to me and will be even better when Liverpool buy him for £50m later on. <laugh>

EDIT: From the BBC: "The Magpies have signed the highly-rated full-back on a five-year contract for £15m, rising to £20m with add-ons."

I'm going back a few weeks. I thought £18m minimum for Jamal, you said £15m plus add-ons.

I think the Liverpool debacle probable upset Lewis and caused SW to accept a lower offer NUFC.

Ah, I see now. I do remember saying £15m plus add-ons back when Liverpool were thought to be preparing a second bid. Their £8m plus add-ons looks more than a bit pathetic really, especially when Jamal was valued at £9.98m by Transfermarkt.

Yeah, pathetic it was. Newcastle is probably a better place for Lewis, anyway. I don't know what will be expected of him in Bruce's 5-4-1, but Bruce thinks he's a good fit.

Now I have to figure out what I just did to my font size <doh>
