I think the goalkeeper did well although he wasn't so good with his feet

"City’s average age was just over 20 but was still more senior than Leicester" according to our esteemed local journal.

Well, having watched all our streamed games since lockdown, this is the only one that has been enjoyable. Actual cohesive passing and attacking play was a pleasant surprise. Thought Alfie Jones had a touch of class on the ball allied to pace and decisive tackling. Namesake Callum Jones was the standout player for us, committed and creative and has more to offer than Honeyman.

For me, Honeyman is either excellent or totally ineffective but rarely anything in-between. Although in general I would suggest he is the latter of the two.

Greaves was steady but everyone including him went AWOL for their first goal. McLoughlin was a ok but looked a bit laboured and when he got forward squandered the chance to do something useful for me.

Or perhaps the other way around. You could say the same about a few of them quite frankly.

Clearly they don't all look like Britt Eklund. Some of them look more like Erland Jonsson

I'm no expert, but I reckon he'd be even worse without them.

It certainly sounds as if, apart from an unjust result, the performance was one of high encouragement. Great to see the younger players get their chance, and by the sounds of it didn't let themselves or the club down.

Just goes to show with a bit of pride in the shirt what can be achieved.

P.S. Nice to see John Beale messaging many of the boys with his congratulations on playing well and getting their first team chance.

Ok, let's try again. And let's see if you can manage to discuss without resorting to playground insults whenever anyone has a different view.

-> No full backs to play is ridiculous.
As you rightly say, Coyle banned, Elder (been) injured, so Emmanuel and Fleming needed for Saturday. We all get that.
All 4 are now 1st team squad. So do we not have even 1 single full back in our academy? Several of the players were academy, so why not a full back, or do we not have them? If we don't, then yes, it's ridiculous, especially after last seasons experience. On top of that, neither players from last night will likely never play a 1st team game at RB / LB, especially Arthur, so what really was the point; why not give him half a game at CB and give a specialist academy full back the experience?

-> No experience on the pitch to help develop the kids, despite what was promised.
Even thought it was 'only' this cup, it is still a senior competition that it would be helpful to progress in. On the one hand, it was great to see some promising young players step up (and they did) but we continue to do them a dis-service with this lack of experience to guide them through games. It wasn't an academy game, it was a senior fixture. Even the captain was only 22. So much for harsh lessons learned, the only experience leader type added is Smallwood. It's simply not enough.

-> Despite the handicaps Enob and McCann (where is he? Too much to expect him to coach them through the game from the touchline?) keep throwing at them, the kids are doing well. Some good prospects, and enjoying this more than I did Saturday's game.

    Positivity. Called balance.
It's ok your rose tinted glasses on near everything City related, but how about acceptance that others can hold different, less positive views on a message board.
(Noted that McCann did appear 2nd half, albeit playing statues most of the time, unlike Leicester's coach who was, err, coaching his players through the game).

McLoughlin and Arthur were more experienced that’s why they played
    Don’t you get that
Both have played full back before
    It’s really not difficult
And he wanted to give them game time which he did and it was a spot on decision
Obviously he wanted greaves and jones to have a full game To see how they performed for 90minutes
Again it’s not ****ing hard is it
you just live to whine and moan with your silly ****ing hash tags
the manager did well yesterday and we have some potentially very very good players
