I still don't rate Sterling. Whenever I have watched him for England all he seems to do is run and run and then cock it up at the vital moment. Maybe I'm wrong as I don't often watch England.
How strange - we have trippier at left wing back and have absolutely zero threat down left. I like Southgate for the amazing summer of 2018 but some of his selection/tactical decisions are amateur.
Yeah very odd he didn't select a single LB ib the squad. OK, Chilwell and and I think Shaw are injured but you've got Bertrand and Cresswell who are good options.
Doesn't Maitland-Niles play LB/LWB? He would be better than Tripper. Trippier shouldn't get anywhere near this squad as a RB let alone LB! Plus Harry Kane is clearly not match fit - he is offering next to nothing except the odd bit of decent hold up play.
Doesn't necessarily mean anything though. Very different skillset imo. This formation really isn't working with these players though.
I do agree regarding skillset for an international manager - needs to be a motivator and people person more than anything - but as we know to our cost at Saints, in game management is also soooo important.
International management is different but you still need to be tactically sound - something which Southgate isn't.
Jesus. Gareth Southgate has just watched the same half of football as we have and thought nothing needed changing. I hate to say it but he is awful
