My wife and a neighbour had these self same symptoms in December and they lasted eight weeks, thankfully they both fully recovered then within a few weeks Covid appeared. Don't think it was a coincidence.

Maybe it was but allowing 170,000 people to fly in from China without any form of testing certainly brought more carriers into the UK. Pointless quibbling over when/how it got here now it is too late. It is here and it will not go away until a vaccine is discovered.

I’ve said on here mate I was down over New Year absolutely bed ridden for 8 days and it was exact symptoms of Covid. I never get ill.

Ive been tested several times now through work, and had antibody test says I haven’t had it, but I had the whole set of symptoms.

Its been around longer I’m convinced, may have just got rolled in with the standard winter flu.

Couldn’t agree more. The 170,000 number isn’t from China, that was the Wuhan region alone.

    Staggering.

Just read it'll be up to 45,000 students active in and around the two Newcastle universities, (not counting the colleges), Sunderland Uni will have around 20,000; both cities will need some serious logistical arrangements put in place.

My son is back in Newcastle uni next week, he's already been told most of his studies will be online.

Shame the socialising and nightlife won't be online too <cheers>

Pretty sure that's a standard letter drawn up by the government mate, funnily enough I got one from my grandbairns school just this afternoon (Morpeth area) , I actually rang the school and was told that it was a standard letter, and the infected student was connected to the school, but not relevant to the bairn. I was satisfied with the explanation given. Maybe get on the phone to them, had I not spoken with them , I would not be sending him to school in the morning.

Don’t worry about that mate, it’s practically impossible to get in anywhere if you don’t know someone.

I credit the folk running the nightlife here they have absolutely stuck to it and made sure there’s no ****ing about, I’m convinced that’s a major part of Newcastle having lower numbers.

Even the queues here have staff making you distance, I didn’t see any of that when I was around seaburn at weekend.

If I had kids and got that they’d be going nowhere near school for the foreseeable.

That's good to read mate - quite reassuring in fact - to be fair my son is usually quite sensible, and not being able to go out so often shouldn't bother him too much.

TBF, the schools that have zero cases over a period of time will probably be in the minority.

Another note as someone who was regularly gigging in the pubs all around the North East area - I still haven't ventured into a pub/ venue/eatery since the March pre- lock-down.

Apart from the lack of an income I haven't missed them.

See I’m big on social, was involved in nightlife for many years and I love the whole lot of it, food, drink and social.

It’s ****e being out though. You can’t crack on with birds, you can’t have banter with others. It’s house drinks, outside, with a **** on to have a piss.

    Its marginally better than nowt.

Problem with this virus is that the government and in particular the media scared the ****e out of people at the beginning. We have to learn to live with it, maybe for a good while. People can take as many precautions as possible, there will always be an element of pot luck though. Sadly, a high proportion of people have an element of nonchalance about it, that's through every age bracket, not just the yoofs.

The information has been so ****ing contradictory and misplaced that a lot of folk don’t know what to believe.

It’s hard to put a genie back in a bottle when you’ve made such a botch of it that folk stop listening.
