Anyone else get the feeling the going rate is connected to Aurier being sold? On that subject, Milan seem to be lowballing a lot of teams this summer, as they offered the Chavs £25m for Bakayoko - which is 50% of the asking price Any update on Leverkusen being interested?
But you were fabricating numbers to make your point in order to criticise the club, it's not an example, it's just lies/ falsifying figures. If you don't want to delve into "pie charts and numbers" that's fine but then why spout fake figures? If you're not looking at the numbers then how do you come to the conclusion we're not supposedly spending what we should be? Doesn't really make sense to me. Are we really acting as a mediocre outlet? Where/ how do you base that assumption on? Is there a team say outside of the big six that are acting better than us? Everton's made a cracking signing that I think we could've looked at, that's about it. No one else in the Prem outside of the big six have brought anyone in that makes me jealous. Levy also gets a good amount of stick on here - from myself included - so I'm not sure where you get the idea that everyone brushes stuff under the carpet from. It's just that not everyone shares the view that he's the root cause of everything that goes wrong with the club.
Club should've listened to me three years back mate when he was still at Exeter. I reckon I'm better than Luis Campos you know, club needs to hire me like.
If that’s true then Chelsea demanding £50million is ridiculous, they should be biting anyone’s hand off who offers £25million for him as he looked shocking for them.
I’m almost certain they did insert one, pretty sure I’d read 20% somewhere although don’t hold me to that. Even 10% would be great, they sold him for a £1.8m fee and that was a club record sale so if they get 10-20% on top of that from the initial £28m they could do so much with that at that level.
The more a team spend , the more likely they will succeed and win a trophy. If only it was that simple. There will be a lot of unhappy teams. Will Newcastle or Villa win a trophy this year because their owner/club chairman has shown ambition and spend more than £20 million an a striker?
They both spent more than £20m on a striker last season, funnily enough. The Geordies spent double that.
Nobody is saying that. Apparently Spurs have been urgently looking for a striker since January but merely days away from a new season and still don’t have one. Whatever your view on enic, levy, Jose etc. That is poor
Cavani and Mandzukic are also available on frees too, albeit sounds like Cavani is on his way to Benfica.
It could be that Levy is being tight on the purse strings. But we also can’t force someone to sign a contract and if they’re being offered first team football at another team in the league and especially if they’re also young, then that’s a huge draw that we can’t offer. It’s really poor. Yes I think it’s a very difficult position to fill, but it’ll be a disaster if we don’t get someone in this window to play the backup role.
So are Arsenal and Chelsea legends Yaya Sonogo and Pato. There's quite a few ex-Premier League strikers without a club at the moment.
I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this is exactly what happens. I’m struggling to think who could possibly be our alternative striker. From what I’ve seen, the strongest rumours were Wilson and Watkins. - they both struck me as the sort of deal that levy would have gone for. I’m not getting my hopes up, as we’re often let down, but options are very minimal unless Levy really is “looking at the top of the pyramid”, as he states in the documentary. Surely we can’t go into the season with just Kane again?
I think we will, ****ing annoying that we haven't got one in already but it'd be suicidal to go into the season with just one striker again. Kane 100% gets injured around November if we do. Based on what's been happening with certain targets, I think it'll either be a relatively unknown (Diallo or Daka) or someone like Deeney or King.
There's a million strikers out there that we haven't even been vaguely linked to in this window. We should've had this all sorted last summer, though. That we still haven't is just silly. Donyell Malen from PSV would tick a lot of boxes, assuming he's over his knee injury. He's young, scoring goals at a good level, has started playing for his national team and he'd count as homegrown, too. He spent a few seasons with the filth after they nicked him from Ajax's youth system and they're still watching him, by all accounts.
Ali Gold reckons King isn’t a target for us but obviously he would be a sensible signing. HG, decent at PL level and versatile enough that we would be able to guarantee him more game time than an out and out striker. Diallo looks like a classic Mourinho striker. Would cost more and isn’t HG so perhaps more dependent on outgoings. We’ve moved early this window for everyone else so I don’t doubt that we’re working on the striker but it is a really, really difficult position for us to fill. Ultimately this is so important for us that even though I’m really happy on an individual level with the signings we’ve made so far, in the grand scheme of things it’ll be a disaster if we don’t get a striker this window.
