The Northern echo report that Newcastle have dropped their interest in signing Danny Rose, and are instead looking at Norwich's Jamal Lewis That's funny, I thought they were an "ambitious" club who would have no issue paying the reported £7m we're asking for him...
Jamal Lewis got relegated last season, which apparently makes him really **** The sad fact is that there's a section of the Lunatic Fringe who genuinely believe that, as players such as Max Aarons or Callum Wilson were relegated last season, we shouldn't be looking to sign them because they're obviously not good enough...unless they sign for another Premier League club, at which point they are good enough and this proves that something something Levy something It's amazing the knots they tie themselves into on a constant basis, really it is
There's a story circulating that one of the reasons Callum Wilson signed for Newcastle is because of the film "Goal" and there's everyone thinking its because they are a big club
Exodus Watch Two for one today The one that you've probably heard already is Villarreal want to sign Foyth, and considering Javi Mata of AS is basicaly Villarreal's Dan KP there's likely something behind this, although we're only willing to let him go out on loan Secondly, Football BSider report that Bournemouth have submitted a loan bid for CCV, as the club have told him to look for a new club and also lowered the previous asking price of £5m to a more reasonable (at the moment) asking price of £2.5m On the subject of CCV (sort of...) I have to say after arranging early loans for Parrott, Skipp and Eyoma, as well as quick transfers for Luke Amos and Armando Shashoua, I find it odd that we haven't sorted out moves for any of the current/former U23s be it loan or permanent, for example Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin could do with loans while Anthony Georgiou and Kazaiah Sterling really should be moved on this summer, but so far nothing
Would you like to swap them? I'm pretty sure that most Newcastle fans would. The Chelsea ****house took them over just before the 07/08 season and in that time they've had one top six finish and been relegated twice. We've had 11 consecutive top six finishes, won a solitary trophy and had one bottom half finish winning it. We also didn't have to suffer the indignity of seeing White Hart Lane renamed The Sports Direct Warehouse or whatever it was. Their fans don't make excuses for him because they despise the bloke. He's seen them spend more time in the Championship than Europe and repeatedly done stupid **** to make them hate him.
I'd be happy to see Foyth get a loan at a decent club in a strong division, but this prick is Villarreal's manager: please log in to view this image He might give him a case of the Sideshow Bobs.
I didn’t say I want Mike Ashley...my point is demonstrating to what extent Levy has lapped up the Covid crisis...that much so that even Mike Ashley’s dealings are looking more ambitious...like you have just demonstrated...a man who isn’t ambitious at all. Dont know if youve noticed but we always have an excuse for the lack of spending. The one window in the past 5 years or so we have acted remotely like a top 6 club was because Levy didn’t spend a penny for the 2 years prior. it’s not a myth about Levy...ENIC skimp when it comes to the football...the numbers don’t add up to suggest we are as skint as Levy makes out considering all avenues of income for Spurs. We are supposed to be raking in around 80 mill on food/drink sold at the stadium alone in one year...let’s just say we have missed half a year...that’s 40 mill. This is a basic example of what kind of money is flying about at Spurs. I’m not being told that we are a billion quid out of pocket...we are only into year 2 of paying the loan back...30 mill a year and we are acting like we have broken our backs. Just recently we started to act anything like a top 6 club with our wage structure...all this is recent. when the concerts and boxing matches and skywalk finances start to roll in..we are looking at excess of 100 mill. We will have smashed the income of most PL clubs...probably be top 3...do you hand on heart think Levy will reciprocate that in the transfer window? What in his 20 year tenure has he demonstrated that gives you that confidence? why are we always so out of pocket? We’re not...we are living Levy’s dream at Levy’s pace...he is clueless about football. The guy has said it himself...we are just another one of his business ventures or words to that affect. I get it that he thinks like that to an extent because he lines his pockets...what are the fans getting out of this to be so hoodwinked by him? Why are we acting like we owe him the vision for our club for the rest of our lives just because he has improved our situation financially over a 20 year period with an initial investment of 20 million...he wants North of a billion for that investment today. do you see the figures? Now compare that to how we act with our football interests...we are so lucky we found Kane or we would be mid table dogshit most seasons
I'm gonna be honest with you mate, if you're basing our ambition/ lack of supposed spending because you think we're earning £80m on food and drink sales, you're massively, massively inaccurate. We make between £800k-£1m per match. Essentially we have 19 home league games. 3 European group games and then on average a potential 2 more in knockout rounds. Let's say we get lucky with home ties in domestic cups and get 3 in each comp. That's a rough average total of 30 home games in a season - max we'd then realistically earn is £30m.
But we are losing a lot of income. I agree with @Spurlock that we shouldn't overreact to the Covid losses but I suspect there is a hidden factor in play. We probably have covenants on the stadium loans that forbid us borrowing extra money for transfers. Since we were supposed to generating an extra £80m from the stadium I doubt that was much of a worry. But now the whole stadium income is gone it might limit our spending. Just another excuse? We did have our biggest ever net spend as soon as we had the income.
Newcastle have signed three senior players for a total of £20m. Hendrick and Fraser for nothing and Wilson for all of it. We've signed three for about £30m, then made back about £12m by selling someone. They're not really in a position to do so. Any fringe player in their squad worth money? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newcastle_United_F.C.#Players We've been out of pocket because of the stadium investment and the money spent on the surrounding area. We should be getting that back in spades right now, but we're Spurs, so obviously the whole world has collapsed, instead. Would Levy have invested massively in this window if that were the case? I doubt it. It's not his style. He runs the club within it's budget. It's worked pretty well so far, barring silverware. The alternative is being taken over by another dodgy crook spending ****loads of sportswashing cash or a Mike Ashley ****bag. I don't want either of those running the club, frankly. Levy's far from perfect, but I don't see a preferable buyer taking over.
it was an example as I stated, end of the day we will be/were/are raking in more money from traditional avenues than other clubs make paltry sums from....but it won’t be reflected in transfer budgets I find it tedious going into pie charts and number charts like a lot enjoy...I was just showing how we are talking bigger numbers than most for essentially the same product..will it be reciprocated in our spending power? We are always skint...every season there’s an excuse...when we are not skint due to a few barren windows..we get the excuse that the manager doesn’t want anyone. By hook or by crook...Spurs under ENIC have an excuse lined up every ****ing window to act like a mediocre mid table outfit and everyone is very understanding of every call Levy makes or it’s brushed under the carpet as soon as we string a few wins together...totally turning our focus on the manager once that starts to go to pot due to squad deficiencies I prefer my pragmatic approach than to be continuously sold a story about what tomorrow will bring...that time has gone. deliverance is upon us
It’s a bummer when there's a general board consensus on a subject...very hard to come across like their is weight in what one is saying...but I’m telling you...Ive not made it all up about ENIC being business first>football second and how that has hindered us with success on the pitch...just because it’s better than it was before doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be better still 20 years of building that 20 mill investment into a Billion pound investment If Levy deserves credit for getting us here then he deserves massive criticism for delivering 1 trophy under his watch...the weakest one available too. It’s obvious where his focus is. He sacks managers when they are in the words of a few posters ‘punching above their weight’...yet he sacks them for not delivering on the pitch It’s a shame no one can sack Levy or he would be out on his arse many years ago for what he has delivered for us in silverware which is the currency that matters. When is Levy’s time to deliver? Maybe some think he already has...not me.
Let's do this veeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrry sloooooooooooowlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ... 1. Total home games PL : 19 home games max League Cup finalists : 4 home games max FA Cup finalists : 4 home games max EL finalists (starting at group stage) : 7 home games max Total home games = 34. 2. 80m on refreshment sales = ~2.35m per game. 3. 60K attendance per game max. 4. ~ £39 spend per attendee #1 is when a "the stars are right" scenario. #3 never happens for every home game. So unless powerspurs is going full "Mr Creosote" with his foie gras smeared in caviar + truffles quaffed down with a barral of Chateau extortionate : So computer says : LOL.
Its a numerical win for you mate however my point still remains we will make more than others do from the same traditional avenues or it’s all been a waste of money, time and potential success on the pitch
Firstly I doubt it was just between us and Villa, there will have been a great many clubs interested in him and that’ll have pushed the price. Second he’s going to start every game for them whereas for us he’s a clear second choice not just as a striker but in any position he can play. He can go there, play the best part of 100 league games over say 3 years to establish himself at that level, then move on to a bigger club if he wants (and if he performs). It’s the sensible move for his career, though I know a lot of us would have loved him at Spurs. DH will be gutted. If signing a top backup striker for Kane was easy then we’d have done it by now.
1. How much more over the past decade wrt PL 6-20 have Spurs made from the "same traditional avenues" ?? 100m ?? 200 ?? 300 ?? etc etc. 2. Whatever the total is, which of said PL 6-20, having that money, would have established themselves as CL regulars etc much cheaper/quicker than Spurs did ??
