Good Morning. It's Tuesday 8th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Phillips set to star for England Kalvin Phillips will make his England debut this evening in an experimental 3-4-3 formation in Copenhagen. Manager Gareth Southgate will make wholesale changes to the team that edged out a stubborn Iceland side last weekend. Their blushes were spared when Iceland missed a penalty deep into stoppage time. Conor Coady Joe Gomez and Eric Dier Jordan Rice and Trent Alexander-Arnold all look set to start! Only the front three of Sterling, Kane and Sancho look set to retain their places. In a recent interview Phillips said he was donating his England shirt to Marcelo Bielsa for gratitude to the Argentine. please log in to view this image Confusion reigns as Leicester and Juve join race for Du Paul Spanish media outlet Calciomercato are claiming Italian giants Juventus have offered a deal containing players plus cash for the services of Udinese attacking midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. Fabio Paratici, Juve’s chief financial officer, has offered Hans Nicolussi and £20 million left-back Luca Pellegrini to Udinese as part of a deal. To make matters even more complicated Leicester City have thrown their hat into the ring. Calciomercato claim Juve have the advantage over Leeds as Du Paul wants to stay in Italy; however fellow newspaper FantaCalcio are suggesting Leeds have agreed a £31 million deal , as have personal terms with the player. please log in to view this image RB Leipzig enter race for Josko Gvardiol. Croatian media outlet 24Sata have reported that RB Leipzig have made a bid for Josko Gvardiol. The 18yo has been on the wish list of many European teams having impressed last season. It is understood that Leeds current offer of 18.8m (20m Euro) is higher, but Leipzig have attached terms which may be more attractive in the long term for Dinamo Zagreb. What is clear, the Croatian Champions won't do anything until after they play their next round of the Champions League. please log in to view this image
Morning all - I wish Phillips had got his debut out the way last weekend, I guess Liverpool are suffering more than us with International call ups
Biggest headline today is that Bielsa has pulled tonights EFL Cup team and will field only U18 players. He has decided his first team needs honing and will use the U23s to do that and he has also said he wants his U23s to be fresh for the league which starts Saturday Rodrigo De Paul will not be going to Juventus unless they can find €38m and as they dont have money, forget it. The offer of 2 fringe players is useless to Udinese as he wants cash, not a weaker team for the new season. Leeds have outbid the Germans for Gav but the Germans are offering more add ons for the future, but cash now rather than later should win
The other biggy was last night Alfies Lad went to find Dallas at the end if the game and swap shirts with him. Still a Leeds lad at heart
Good morning everyone woke up to the usual wait & see this morning on signatures, hopefully by the end of December we will have a definite idea of our first team & manager, still wouldn't be Leeds otherwise.
Am I right in thinking we have agreed a fee and personal terms with De Paul? If so, what's the hold up?
there are 2 well plugged in journos out of all the media know nothings around the story. One of the plugged in guys has said personal terms were agreed a week ago with the player, who would receive a substantial pay rise at Leeds as he is only on £17k per week at Udi (€20k) the other guy has been saying for a few days that Leeds have agreed a fee and now down to player and his agents who are due in from Argentina? So both cannot be right but I suppose they could be if an “understanding” has been reached I reckon we will all know by Friday
Personally I don't think it's going to happen. Dragged on far too long. Something's not right about it.
Wasn't there a lot of noises about Rodrigo and then it went a bit quiet before he was announced/Orta was speaking to the press in Spain?
Morning, Interesting that Phillips described Bielsa as “pulling his hair out” at all the internationals he’s lost this weekend. Sounds like he’s well pissed off with this preseason, and rightly so? Wonder if this has been reflected in his tardiness to sign a contract, ie he’s just too busy?
Good Morning to Matt Doc and co from a dull bardsey De Paul transfer reminds me when we tried to sign Duncan Ferguson from Dundee Utd.Rangers offered 1m more but Dundee didn't like Rangers so the accepted Leeds offer only for Ferguson decided he wanted to play for Rangers so he declind Leeds over tures and said his pidgeons would n,t settle in Leeds!
It's the first time I've seen him being interviewed and the size of the fecker(no smutty jokes) Didn't we have a chance of getting him when he played at Salzburg.
But even in the Revie days we've always found Anfield a hard place to go to. I just feel that this has been the strangest un preseason ever and our new signings haven't had time to gel or acclimatise with Bielsa's methods.
Shaks we could have signed him when he was at the club before he signed for Malmo. Orta went back out and spoke to him when he was at Malmo under Olly Gunner Solts and it would have cost less than £5m. We didnt have the cash ffs.... he was then sold not long after for close to £10m to Red Bull who then moved him on within 6 months for a shed load. He is the hottest property in world footy and was born in Leeds, is a Leeds fan and told Orta he would like to win the Champions League with Leeds. Why didnt we make this happen?
