Offside stays the same. At the end of the day there's no leeway for offside. But referees will go to the monitor for penalties as well as red cards.
What a load of ****e that is. Another year of VAR being slow and dreadful then, so much for clear and obvious.
But my understanding is that the linesmen (and women) are now instructed to keep their flags down for tight decisions (ie the way FIFA have implemented VAR). Rather than putting them up as normal, but have play continue until the referee blows his whistle. So last season's incident between Sheff Utd and Newcastle, where Sheff Utd stopped playing once they saw the flag go up (forgetting that they needed to play to the whistle), allowing Shelvey to score, shouldn't happen again.
For offsides I think the VAR officials should have a 10 second time limit to make their decision from first seeing the replay. If you can't decide after 10 seconds then it wasn't clear and obvious.
Also, Palace fans ranting about Ward-Prowse and hoping he gets injured - https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=177177 The games not even kicked off yet and he has them on the edge!
Has any one individual player ever had an entire club in his pocket like this before? (I do fear Zaha getting his revenge at some point mind).
They seem like an angry bunch. The only nasty thing JWP has done in his whole career is wind up Zaha in one or two games, you can hardly level much criticism at him . Hope he bangs a free kick.
That was true until he roughed up the penalty spot for England against Iceland the other day. He's full on bad boy now
He wasn't even that bad with Zaha - Zaha poked him in the fave and Ward-Prowse didn't drop to the floor and roll around like most (Zaha for sure) would. A JWP free kick in front of the palace fans would be bloody marvelous
Obviously don't know what he said to Zaha but wasn't the extent of JWPs terrible behaviour laughing at Zaha when was getting frustrated? Or was there more to it? I can't really remember now.
He wound him up a little - pretended to throw the ball in his face to make him flinch. Then celebrated the red card with a fist pump. Pretty annoying for sure - but not really worth losing sleep over! It has since become a talking point and Zaha never plays well against us - I am a little worried this will eventually change as he is a top player.
Crystal Palace always makes me think about a guy I used to care for, in Mottingham, London, who is a Palace season ticket holder. He has learning difficulties and not being able to attend the games must be very difficult for him to comprehend. He’s quite a character who would quite often be stood at his bedroom window, stark bollock naked, shouting “Eagles, Eagles”. He also had, as I saw from a photo on his wall, a very strong resemblance to Glenn Cockerill, when he was younger. Happy days.
I'd give everything a time limit as I've said before. Offsides should be limited to one replay. If it's not clear from that then stick with onfield decision.
