Failed to score. One shot on target against a team that hasn't played for six months. How often is that going to happen this season.
The only positives for me is theres still players to come in as I think we’ll add to the squad. Other than yet Docherty looked half decent
Funny how no-one ever had an uncle in Hartlepool, Rochdale or Tranmere who sent them shirts etc as a kid ? I had one in my shop last week. Dressed from head to toe in Chelsea gear and riding a push bike. I said 'Your a brave fella' Puzzled look on his face. 'Biking all the way from London in this weather'
I sell out with a mate who was/is a racist ****. He always has said he is an Arsenal supporter, has loads of badged ****e all around his house and he wears the colours. His photo was in the paper last year at a Saints Foundation free lunch for pensioner supporters. The **** him.
I think Radio Humberside should be more concerned with it's new presenters, Kofi Smiles seems to be presenting the breakfast show in the style of an LA gangster and does he really have to say 'your friendly neighbourhood smilemaker' every five minutes? Annoying twat.
The fact we weren’t 1-0 down inside 20 seconds is more down to good luck. Emmanuel heading off the line. New season, new players, lower standard of opposition, same mistakes, still no cutting edge. 7 shots with 1 - yes 1 on target. The shot on target is at best generous as it was a Samuelsen header back to their goalkeeper which barely had the power to reach him. That by any stretch of the imagination is nothing to be positive about.
Compared to the way we finished last season, keeping a clean sheet, to me is enough positives for now. I was dreading a trouncing at Sunderland because it would have set the new season off on the wrong note. But we won, and they are still getting a kicking in the media ???
I hope every team we play this season has the same problem. They never scored over 90 min, and we won, accept it, get over it and erm....enjoy it. I did.
He's not everyone's favourite that's for sure but some like him. Burnsy will probably be missed more than Swanny but they come as a pair and as you know they are popular with many people. They are (or were) the only way of staying in touch with the club for many - particularly the elderly or infirm. Not everyone can afford to be members or subscribe to the £10 per match deal.
Well, being pedantic, we did not win the game over the game but we went through. Unfortunately league games stop at 90 minutes so replicating that in every game would not make for an exciting season and 46 points would have seen us relegated in the last full season in League 1 in 22nd place, the equal goal difference lifting us from 23rd. Of course I was pleased we went through as I did not expect to.
Or have no internet, like my old folks. A quick google provides some shocking numbers. Over 5 million have never used the internet, obviously age is a factor 24% of over 65's not used it in the last 3 months ( ONS figures, it would be fair to say a lot of those have never used it )
It’s not good luck is it it’s good defending, you know a player doing his job. They didn’t break us down did they. aftercwhat we’ve been through that’s a result. Yes we’re in a lower league but we played the biggest club in that league and won away. I’m a hull city fan and I look for the positives. Emmanuel Big positive Fleming positive Docherty big positive Smallwood big positive looks a proper skipper Burke positive Forward line is a worry Klp scoring a pen positive more belief for a young player he can score goals read the Sunderland board and they said a good goal scorer is what you need in this league. we definitely need one too.
How the manager sets them up to play is far more of a worry. The play followed exactly the same pattern as last season, regardless of the players selected. I can’t see it changing any time soon.
I take a load of positivity from the 'outcome' on Saturday.Sunderland will be expected to be in amongst the play offs/automatic promotion candidates this season and any team getting anything from them will have to perform. If that means having to fling their body's on the line or clearing off the line then so be it...I wouldn't expect anything less. We fielded a team made up of a fair few new kids on the block, still learning each others names, never mind style of play. I'm looking forward to seeing this team developing, learning about each other and ultimately gelling together.McCann (we all agree) has lead a charmed life after last season's capitulation but he's there and there's absolutely nothing we can do about that at present.I'll draw my conclusions after 6 or 7 performances and ultimately,if he ain't cutting it,he'll need replaced! And yes,we need a decent striker..
