One of the most insistent bits of info, I had last year, was that it certainly wasn't Methven. In fact, as I posted at the time, he was one of the stumbling blocks to a takeover. In all honesty how could someone like him influence people of their stature and what could he offer going forward. FPP had already made a bid for NUFC, prior to us, so wouldn't need 'bringing to the table' .... they're all big boys and can find it themselves.
I don’t know how true it was but I heard O’Brien went to America to try get the deal back on last time it fell apart
Methven struggled to bring a decent pair of socks to the table.. in seriousness though I held this belief for a while...
I'm massively paraphrasing and don't want to speak for @Magnus , but I believe his intel was that Fuhrman wants the club at this price but the other 2 weren't as convinced. So he's going for it now in case they lose the opportunity. If he makes a success the others can then buy in.
Did you ever hear why it fell apart in the first place, it seemed like it was getting to signing on the dotted line then it just went belly up.
Appreciate that. But after an initial loan, 12 months later there seems to be a lot pointing to something happening.
No I got a message and asked the experts on here Cos there’s limited WiFi where i am then all of a sudden I’m a mag that’s SMB behaviour that’s why I didn’t stay there long and came over here ♂️
These quotes are from last year. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo.../sunderland-takeover-qa-done-donalds-16806385 There was just minor details to sort in the deal, and the fact that Phelan, Fuhrman and Platek have now set up a company to complete the takeover suggests that things are moving quickly and a deal is close, if not now completely agreed. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ck-ross-and-league-one-promotion-hopes-642284 Q) How excited do you think SAFC fans should be about the potential takeover, or will it be a long-term project? Phil) I think you have to be excited about it when you look at the calibre and past record of the businessman involved. You would hope that this is a long-term project, though, and Jack Ross has hinted that the conversations he has had, albeit brief ones, have been about structure and sustainability while achieving results. Just how close did this get last year? A year on and the Don is in a much worse position than he was back then, especially with covid knacking the finances. My guess is he probably wants out as much as we want him to go and there's plenty of indication we're both going to get what we want, hopefully by the end of the month.
That’s up to you. Others will give their view/information. I’ve given mine. You choose to believe who you want. I said SD would still be owner first game of the season and he was I still say he’ll be owner come the close of the window in Oct or still part of the club with a mock up of a change having taken place, but he’ll still be rattling around... I believe the first scenario as he can’t miss out on his big pay day (which he still believes will come)
You think he’s going to take all the risks just to let his mates have a piece of the cake if it turns out successful? I don’t think Fuhrman is a mug, mate.
Got told the other 2 we’re unsure so pulled out and done the loan to keep them at the table and to get the price the want
