I posted this on another thread, but don't you think it's strange that after years of players choosing other Premier league clubs including Palace West ham and others and at a time the clubs known to be on disarray that all these players suddenly cannot wait to sign here.. So much so they're refusing to even consider richer clubs. The coming weeks will soon expose my suspicion
Well we're £20m in as of now and look almost certain to spend £34m on 5 players. Gillespie, Hendrick, Wilson, Fraser, Lewis. There's one loan move being mooted, and Rogerio plus the Japanese lad being strongly linked for another £25m. Ritchie being sold will only net £3m, so that's around £20m of additional investment. That being said, Bruce did say people might be surprised by our budget (actual quote, that). Mate, I don't honestly know and it's impossible to guess with this club. I've rarely seen NUFC act decisively and proactively in the transfer market, so this is a change for sure. You are also right in that we almost never beat the competition to signings. Personally think Wilson deal is dependent on Fraser, and vice versa, so we were just either well-informed or a bit lucky there. Lewis is probably more interesting, we just barrelled in with the required amount and appear to have signed off on it. At our level, the transfer moves have been the most impressive in the league by some distance. I look at the business of Burnley, So'ton, Everton, Villa and we're absolutely streets ahead - again, this is unusual for us. However, let's not get carried away - we're not snapping up the best of the Championship, or our rivals better players. Safe bets are well inside Ashley territory.
It's still very much Ashley work, but the takeovers still going to happen in the near future. These signings really aren't going to change anything... We still cannot play football and we're still severely lacking in key areas and in depth. One or two injuries and it's as dreadful a situation as ever It's also still highly plausible they flop..... One key area in all this has to how poor our manager is.

It's way more ambitious than we'll ever be, lad had a lot of talent, but 29 is a tough age to suddenly acclimatise to the harem scarem PL. Look at the likes of Higuain. Just have a feeling it won't work. Of course, I agree if he was at SJP I'd be deliriously happy and have a tattoo of him on my arse between Charnley and Ashley. Doucoure's class, mind.
