Used to be one of the most prolific in Europe. they will hit the ground running for sure as they already know each other’s game. the fact we are signing the pair means even more added value for the team this year, something the press aren’t speaking about just yet. Brice has probably circumvented 3-4 months of gelling here..
Once we add Lewis Regario Lozano Soumoure marcao tomiyasu and brewser he's going to be out on his arse by December if he doesn't get results
I'm not saying they can't be a good partnership again like 2 years ago, however, the key is missing. Brooks made the team tick and he's out of our league.
In all seriousness if its only Wilson, Fraser and Lewis we won't be turning up trees all of sudden... It'll give us a chance of staying up though
Expectation has been dumbed down so low, that you're supposed to be grateful for anything. Nothing against any of the three, but, they were all playing for relegated clubs. That's lower end of the league standard, nothing more. It does give us a better chance though, so that cant be a bad thing.
True.. It's good business, but I can sense people getting too carried away.. If we signed another 3 good players id be getting towards that.
One of the worst things from the Ashley regime is we are now all with the mindset of not being greedy. The list you've mentioned would have been more than realistic under Freddy or John Hall.
And all three were pursued by clubs at the top. Three good ones. My expectations prior to this weekend were low admittedly.
Says the man who is using this as evidence that the takeover is still on. I do like you a lot but irony or what.
Is been sometime since Wilson was being pursued by anyone - No interest this summer when it matters. No takers for Fraser on a free, Tottenham allegedly rolled back following his end of season antics. Liverpool with a vague interest in Lewis at £10m isn't being pursued.
Max and Almiron played for a lower end of the league club last season....what's your point? We were ****ing gash last season and were lucky we had a bit of a run earlier in the season. I look at it from the aspect of are they any better than what we have currently at the club. Wilson, without a shadow of a doubt. Fraser, potentially...certainly can't be any worse than Jacob Murphy/Atsu. I'd rather Fraser than paying £10m for Bentaleb that's for sure.
The thing is, this business is flooring everyone because it’s nothing like Ashley (or do they say). However, Ashley has often gotten carried away with the whims of a manager. The Jan spree under McLaren. Signing Ritchie and Gayle for the Chanpionship. Now this - signings that absolutey reek of Bruce. British, disillusioned, the kind of player Bruce reckons he can get the best out of. The reality is they are all players who have been relegated or run down a contract (or both). The level of ambition is still very much in Ashley territory, seeking a bargain, he’s just been convinced by Bruce where once he’d been convinced by Rafa. So in short we should be pleased with the activity, it looks like doing enough for to have us reaching for 9th or 10th, but that’s all it is. It’s not a sign of a takeover, it’s not a sign of ambition, it’s simply a mid table club doing what they should do, no more no less - even if we fans are used to the club doing considerably less than needed.
Have to say I think all 3 are a bit better than that - I think you are talking about mid table first teamers or top half squad players. Wilson when fit is pretty useful and is on the fringes with England. Similar to Ings but I don't think he's as good a finisher as Ings. Chelsea were interested over the last two years. Fraser only last year both Arsenal and Spurs were sniffing. He didn't cover himself in glory towards the back end, but his stock is still pretty high. Lewis is one of the most highly rated young full backs in the country. Liverpool had a bid rejected. The top clubs have pushed through their interest, but the fact they've been looking tells me they have plenty to offer. All 3 will improve the squad. I don't think they are world beaters by any stretch, all three would be looking at bench time with those they were linked with. But for a club like us I think they are very good signings. People should not get hung up on them being from relegated clubs either. Plenty of good players get relegated for a whole load of reasons. Bournemouth in particular have some very useful players. I like Brooks of course, but I also think Lewis Cook still has potential too. I've heard a fee of 40m touted for Brooks though
