In the summer its more fun to shop with the missus than watch Newcastle. All the ladies are in summer clothes
Contrary to those on here who just couldn’t look at things objectively, I had no axe to grind with the man. He did a good solid job like Bruce last season. But I don’t get into hero worship, so I’m not going to sit and pretend he’s not a defensive manager, he has been his entire career. Even at Napoli, Inter, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid where he had attacking talent to die for, he still was more interested in stopping the oppo. It’s just not for me and it’s a bit old hat these days. I think he was good at pulling the wool over the fans eyes too, and he falls out with every club board. Bit largely all that is not a big thing for me. It’s style of play coupled with results cause that is what impacts my enjoyment on a Saturday. Rafa was therefore never gonna be ideal. Still did a solid job in the circumstances and I think he tried his best for the club.
The Newcastle DNA (if we can call it that) under Keegan and Bobby has always been highly skilled technicians particularly on the flanks (Gillespie, Ginola, Solano Robert etc) with the emphasis on beating your man and getting the ball into the box. The fans can identify with this style of play better than any other imo. When the fans return to the ground I hope we can adopt a strategy of at least trying to get them of their ****ing seat for once. I don't know about you guys but the atmosphere at home has been rancid in recent years.
But the atmosphere issue has been an issue for years. Over the years the atmosphere as never been as good as the previous season with the odd game here and there being an exception to the rule. Also not just a Newcastle thing but a general football thing. For me has a lot to do with the difference in grounds rom standing to sitting combined with the make up of the crowd and the pricing out of the “working man”. But yes playing attractive, attacking football helps.
Wont be the last time. It’s all very disconcerting. Mike Ashley acting like a normal owner of a football club? I’m still in shock.
Tomorrow announcement "In light of recent spending we are converting the training ground into a Sports Direct depot"
Either that or Ashley's going to do an interview after this saying he's staying forever until we win sumick again
