Northumbrian Derby Day

Tomorrow sees Blyth kick off their latest FA Cup run against neighbours Bedlington Terriers at Croft Park. Though the Spartans currently play three divisions above Bedlington, the Terriers have scored an astonishing 44 goals over their last 9 games and have already beaten three clubs to reach this stage of the FA Cup.

Blyth, who have struggled so far this season, have signed former Newcastle and Hamilton striker Richard Offoing just in time for this match and hope he can help them change their poor run of form. Though the bookies have the BSN side as the strong favourites, the revitalised Terriers are not to be taken lightly and could get one over on their higher profile opponents.

With Newcastle playing away tomorrow, hopefully that should see a bumper crowd at Croft Park.


The weather is absolutely stunning this week, perfect for a matchday so I ask, if you've not already planned to waste a sunny afternoon indoors tomorrow (or travel to Wolverhampton), come along to Croft Park and enjoy the biggest match of the round.

Aye, Bishops Stortford in the Blue Square North! Regardless of the fact that their ground is near Stansted Airport!

 

I was a bit confused by that when I found that out.. I live down south but go to school up north apparently?

 

Offiong signing looks like a great bit of business, I'm sure he was one of the top scorers in League 1 or 2 (I forget) just a few years ago after leaving the toon. Should bag a hatfull at Blyths level. Should have a big crowd for this game judging by how many attend the Whitley Bay game against Blyth & Bedlington, especially with the toon away!

 

Aye, attendances are way down this season for some reason, it's really having a knock on effect from a financial point of view. This match is a perfect opportunity for the club to maybe pick up a few more fans, we need more Toon fans (and other clubs) to see the quality non-league clubs in the area and perhaps pick them up as a second club.

 

Get your money on the terriers!

 

I feel bad but 7-1 odds on an away win when that side has scored an average 4 goals a game looks pretty tasty so I'm putting a bit of money on it. At least if we get knocked out it'll cheer me up a bit.

 

Anyone know when the Blyth-Colwyn Bay games are (my local team)?

BTW, CBay have an ace striker (Rob Hopley), who is supposedly being watched by Tranmere, Everton and Liverpool.

And the keeper (Chris Sanna) is having a trial over the winter at Birmingham (I think).

 

I hope they've been unsettled by the speculation otherwise we're going to get completely Brambled! Our away record this season, scored 2, conceded 15!

I know Cuggy's made a lot of changes but really, after I decent pre-season I wasn't expecting this!
