He has fast become a victim of the 'familiarity breeds contempt' brigade - an ever-increasing vocal number who irrationally berate him and blame him for everything that goes wrong, without actually stopping to consider his value to the team/club. If a club at a higher level - who, lets face it, would know his value far better than those fans would - wanted to sign him, and he wanted to continue playing at as high a level as possible, then let him go. I think he's still got a lot to offer, so if he wanted to stay I'd be fine with that too. If he did leave, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the 'familiarity breeds contempt' brigade suddenly turned into the 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' brigade when they realised that he still has what it takes.
Yes i agree that anaylsis.... and sadly the era of social media lets a small minority have more influence
At 32, he has a lot to offer a club of our size in the Championship. Put another way, there would not be too many Championship sides who would not like a fit Troy Deeney in their side. We need him to stay, we can raise money from players who appear not to be committed to a Watford not in the Premeir league.
I tihnk with a more attacking set up a player like him would be great for us against most champ teams... but whether it is him remains to be seen... But yes like others on here i wish him well... a legend for us
It looks like WBA have cooled on the idea of signing Troy anyway https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2020...egotiations-on-ice-for-65k-wk-forward-report/ And we may be signing a 'youngster' from Sheffield Wed - 31 year old Sam Hutchinson... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ield-Wednesday-midfielder-Sam-Hutchinson.html
A case of people potentially thinking the grass will be greener when if he left. We seem to be pinning our hopes on players who either might not stay like Suarez and Sarr or playing who have never played like Pedro. OR Gray and Murray.
Yes ... a big ask to dismantle a team... put in new players... and young players.... and play at a high enough level to bounce back....
https://tbrfootball.com/report-tott...e-for-watford-midfielder-will-hughes-for-13m/ No sign of him around yesterday.
I think he is injured too but I should think the club would take 13 million for a good player but be some re-sale value. Not sure Hughes would suit Spurs though.
https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...er-news-Ismalia-Sarr-Jurgen-Klopp-John-Barnes Paper talk..... ??
IF.... we could keep him for the season... We really are a stepping stone for him whatever Div we are in.... so could he hang on with us?????
He was one of the few who did themselves credit last season. However, I think he is just the type of "terrier" player very well suited to the Championship and would be a big plus in a promotion push by us this season. Yes, I understand he is returning from an end of season injury. Spurs in for him? Not one I think their fans would be impressed with, you would have thought, no disrespect to Hughes, that a big London club would aim a little higher in signings. I rate him very highly and appreciate his work rate and what he brings to us. I hope he is staying.
Yes, but this article is casting doubt on the transfer, which is a first. Good news for us - though am a little surprised that John Barnes is the source.
The Pozzo model is to bring players on then sell as they reach maximum value. Sarr could become a far more valuable player even by January if he stays. Of course what we don't know if the model has to be broken because of financial pressures.
Agreed.... and he did say he would stay a while back......I think he would be a better investment to keep....
Aaargh - Suarez to Sporting Lisbon with Watford's blessing? http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-m...g-low-fee-transfer-transfer-approved-manager/
Doesnt add up to me maybe lost in translation...but I am pretty sure players cannot have shared ownership report says they are buying 60%!!
It used to be common in Italy for two clubs to share ownership of a player, but I'm sure that was outlawed a few years ago. I have a vague recollection that some of our earlier transfer dealings in Italy were complicated by this - but can't remember which players were involved.
