where i was in the concourse, some woman steward took a pint off a bloke because "he'd had enough" then promptly gave it to a complete stranger to drink. the guy looked shocked, then just chucked it in the bin. how can a steward take beer off one fan and then just give it to somebody else.

surely there shouldnt have been any underage drinking?? if the person serving thought the person buying was underage they would have asked for ID??

Do you moan about kids drinking by corner shops or in parks? Under age drinking is in place for a reason and Northlondonchav is being irresponsible for trying to get his kid brother beer. That's the end of the matter.

Northlondonchav was going up for his brother.

From what I saw the stewards were quite friendly - in particular when we were on the way out there was a fairly aged saints fan struggling to come all the way down from the top row, the stewards were saying to him - "oh, you should have told us at the start, we would have moved you to save climbing all the stairs." and "make sure you let us know next time" sort of thing...etc etc. all very friendly. he wasn't complaining but they were being nice enough about it, and it was genuine.

i think it was probably saints ticket office fault for giving senior citizen tickets out for row jj, but hey, maybe they booked late or something.

Taking it further, I thought the atmosphere before and after the game was quite calm, very different to what it used to be at Ninian park. pretty "amicable" walking around outside the ground generally.

I'm sure many of us drunk underage and also accepted that if we got caught, we ran the risk of getting chucked out of pub/club/wherever.

I expect the stewards/cctv picked up your brother drinking the first pint and might have let it go if they hadn't then spotted you getting him a second. So it is your fault, so "grow a pair of balls" accept the punishment and move on.

The stewards warned you so you can't complain when you went ahead anyway. Once they had warned you, they became personally liable to enforce the law. It's a fine of thousands of pounds for the member of staff involved. I know because I work in retail...once you have challenged someone you cannot serve them unless they produce id. This also applies if someone else buys the alcohol, video or knife (all have similar rules).

Because it's the law? Were you expecting them to just let you off? I'm sure we've all done underage drinking, but you can't have any complaints if you get caught. Sounds like they suspected (correctly) that you were buying him and drink and they did their job.

Also for future reference, it doesn't matter that he hadn't touched the drink yet. As long as it's clear that it was bought for him then that's all they need. Just so you know next time.

If so then surely i should of been the one thrown out and not him.
he did not drink inside the ground, so how is he allowed to be kicked out the ground for drinking inside the ground.

That's what im arguing, not whether im braking the law, because tbh i dont really give a ****. But technically speaking my brother did not brake any law inside the ground and so therefore had no right to be ejected.

They can eject people from the ground who haven't broken the law if they like. If he had been drinking in the ground then they could arrest him. It's not so much a case of breaking the law as just breaking rules. Technically they can eject whoever they like.

I love it that everyone on here is so high and mighty about underage drinking.
Like you never had a beer before you were 18!

Possibly not. In my day it was Pernod and black!!

I think people are not being high an mighty about the under age drinking (most havesone that) it's just the indignation from the poster that some one in authority (ish) had the audacity to do something about it. I did it; I got caught; I took my medicine! It was just so long ago I can't remember

I used to have the odd half cider (6d..those were the days) at sixteen, but if challenged I would have just left. We didn't get outraged about 'rights' in the '60s.

To be honest though it is more about if you are caught you take the hit........not criticizing the man, albeit a bit overzealous, for doing effectively his job! So you are right most people will have had a beer before they were legally entitled, most would have done it in private, not perhaps in public view. The guy was a bit unlucky I guess in as much as you met a jobs worth....but hey that's life...........

Everyone has done it, but the point is you can't have any complaints if you get caught.

Another point is that would you carry on once you'd been warned, knowing the consequences.
