One of the reasons the club have with moving players on is our bonus scheme , we don't pay top wages but the bonus bumps up the players pay hense why we had problems getting rid of big victor , GNK and Janssen
There's also the fact that while we obviously don't pay Sky 4 wages, we also don't pay midtable wages Case in point, Sadio Mane was on £40k p/w at Southampton and we offered a reported £75-80k, which is more than 75% of the Premier League at the time would have been offering - the thing is he wanted his wages tripled due to being a mercenary twat (as opposed to the myriad other ways in which he is a twat) which the other 25% could offer That's the thing with moving out the deadwood: they realise that they'll be returning to their previous earning power, and in some cases probably below that due to advancing years or people forgetting that they existed
Clubs have sued over them in the past, especially when it involves multiple players. I'm sure there was one a couple of years back when one club sold two players to the same club and fudged the valuations. Very little for the player with the sell-on clause and a lot more for the worse player with no clause.
Villa have supposedly enquired about Gazzaniga. I think it’s definitely looking like he’ll leave. That’s now Fulham, Villa and Independiente all rumoured to be in for him. I think Jose’s told him he’s 3rd choice and so the player is possibly pushing for a move, whilst the club probably thinks getting Hart for free and selling Gazza for circa £10m(?) is smart business during this particular time. I think Gazza’s better than Hart so won’t be overly joyed with it but if it helps towards bringing players in a position we need strengthening I can at least understand it.
Bump up one of Whiteman/Austin to third-choice Come to think about it, what happened to Whiteman's loan to Birmingham that the ITKs were saying would be happening?
I think one of Austin/ Whiteman will be third choice. EDIT: It's cost-free and HG too. Albeit lacking in experience, especially Whiteman.
Yeah both the young keepers need to play next season. I’d want them both loaned out and give Gazza his move next summer, if we can convince him. We only really need one more incoming and if we can get Aurier off the books, which looks likely, then that solves the HG issue.
We could sign Button on the cheap from Brighton and he'd be HG/CG. Vito Mannone's out of contract. Ex-filth and his career's gone down the ****ter, but he was good at Sunderland. Won MLS keeper of the year too, for whatever that's worth.
I just think if I were Gazza I'd probably want out. If I'm correct in my observation, it looks like Hart has joined immediately as second choice judging by how pre-season has gone, that's gotta be a huge kick in the bollocks for Gazza considering he joined as third choice, over took Vorm as second choice, put in some great performances for a spell that resulted in some (myself included) calling for him to be given a solid run in the first team, had his solid run after Lloris' injury and probably confirmed to all that a back up is his level. To be demoted when he hasn't done too much wrong must be pretty ****ty. If Fulham/ Villa/ Independiente are offering a better chance at first team football, it'd be hard to say no.
From his perspective I 100% agree. I was on the Gazza for president train as well, though backup is really his level. If he can go somewhere in the PL and be first choice I wouldn’t begrudge him for wanting to leave, but from our perspective it would obviously be best to keep him for another year or two!
Birmingham trying to sign Etheridge from Cardiff for £1m. He's probably worth at least double that but last year of his contract and he wants to be first choice.
Just had a look on Transfermarkt and should Gazza leave and we want to bring in a cost effective 3rd choice in order for Whiteman and Austin to go out on loan; David Stockdale, Andy Lonergen, Adam Legzdins and our former keeper Ben Alnwick, are all available on free transfers. None exactly to get excited about but our top four/ six rivals have actually dipped into similar signings themselves for third choice keepers in recent years. Chelsea - Rob Green Utd - Lee Grant City - Scott Carson (not free but 2 year loan from Derby) Liverpool - Andy Lonergen (now released as above)
Isn’t Joe Hart supposed to be the Rob Green, Grant, Carson figure though. I really think selling Gazzaniga would be silly, least you know what you’re getting with him
In general yeah, from yours and my perspectives that would definitely be the case but I think Jose sees Hart as an upgrade on Gazzaniga both in terms of ability and mentality.
