withholding a legally agreed payment ain't much of a renegotiation tactic since it led to the PL cancelling the agreement and now presumably looking for a new buyer .

Ay, you’d think or hope it would make some people up at the top of the game realise that it’s pretty much nothing without fans, but the fact is even if another fan could never step foot inside another stadium ever again they’d just ‘move on’ from the ‘fans in stadium based model’ and carry on without by (re)negotiating financial terms with sponsors and investors to make it viable

It'd save the owners a lot on stadium building, maintenance, staff etc. Don't give them ideas...

Four Reds shortlisted for PFA Players' Player of the Year prize

Four Liverpool players have been shortlisted for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for 2019-20.

Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all in contention for the prize having been voted for by their fellow professionals after helping the Reds to the Premier League title.

The quartet are joined on the shortlist by Manchester City duo Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne.

Alexander-Arnold is also in the running for the PFA Young Player of the Year accolade, facing competition from Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka.

The winners will be revealed next Tuesday, September 8, from 7pm BST via a broadcast on the PFA’s social media channels.

Van Dijk is the current holder of the trophy having won it last year for his performances in 2018-19.

Other Reds to have clinched the prize in recent times include Mohamed Salah, Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez

You would think that would/could be the case but the tv viewing figures for the final few games post suspension smashed all records.

Football needs fans. If we're not allowed in the stadiums for a while, I fully expect tv viewing figures to remain high. It's far, far away from being the ideal experience but it is the far, far away next best thing.

i would have been surprised if they didn't tbh as
a ) people felt starved of football
b ) very little live sport was available including playing it yourself
c ) a lot of it was free for the first time in years therefore much bigger audiences available .

Personally found it soulless and think lots of others are like me .
Obviously didn't stop me watching our games but much less interested in others than i would normally have been .

I agree with you about people flocking to it after being starved but with the start of the new season and everything to play for I can only see the tv viewings getting bigger tbh. Interest will be huge.

I had the games on, but literally none of them could hold my interest. I usually watch football quite intently, but I found they became little more than background wallpaper during the restart, solely due to the lack of atmosphere making them sterile events.

Fans hopefully coming back in October is great news, albeit I’m not so sure how long it’ll last given what appears to a seemingly inevitable 2nd wave during winter.

Amazingly Sky only lost around 5% of its sports subscribers during lockdown, so the damage done was nowhere near as bad as it might have been.

    No that was me mate.

The twats kept me sweating though, as they left it to the last few days before my 30 days notice period ended before ringing me up. I was going to have to crack, as my plan was to have BT but they couldn’t provide me the service where I live ffs, so I was going to have to eat **** and go back anyway, fortunately they cracked first. <laugh>
