Because the FA make money out of them. If the FA were a non-for-profit charity, then fair enough, but it's not. The days footballers played for three bob and a pat on the back from the mill owner of the club went out with Golden Gordon.
It depends on how much they get paid, I suppose. Male footballers at club level get paid a lot because their game generates vast amounts of income - women's football doesn't. It has nothing to do with gender equality (which I fully subscribe to) it's just practical economics. At international level, if it's only a token amount - relatively speaking - then it doesn't make much difference. If they're being paid just to turn out for their country, they might as well be equal.
They get paid on the result: £1,500 for a win, £1,000 for a draw and £750 for a loss. None of the players keep these, it's all given to charity. EDIT: England this is, not sure what other nations do
@saintKlopp . I expect you to me more conservative, this is the age of equal opportunities. You can not be in the same league as zanjinho.
Premier League rights: China deal terminated with immediate effect https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54014827
Not much has been talked about the lack of fans effecting us this season, the sooner we get them back the better for us, I know all teams are in the same boat but ours really helped push us over the line in many games last season and we know how important they are in European games. Sooner the better for all.
Agree, I think the nervous tension other teams fans create when they're hanging on to a lead against us is just as an important missing factor too - we thrive on that.
I just feel all games "sterile" without fans present and i'm thonk interest will start to wane until fans are back in the grounds .
Was reading about this - it seems that the Chinese had massively overpaid for these rights in the first place (up to 12x the amount that the previous rights holder had paid). Them withholding payment and cancelling the agreement sounds like it's a renegotiation tactic rather than them completely losing interest. The PL is extremely popular in China.
